I was referring to the Devi Mandir of Napa, CA home of Shree Maa and

Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Their website is shreemaa.org. That is

where their calendar is located.

Dear Pahariji:

It is quite alright to make Sri Ramakrishna's birthday

appear every day for His devotees. The lunar calender

is arguably just another legal fiction.

However the Ramakrishna Math and Mission are arguably

India's foremost proponent of the Paramahansa.

The Ramakrishna Math of Lucknow has March 1 on their website

as the Masters 171th Birthday.

The Vedanta Society of Berkeley California is

run by the above mentioned Ramakrishna Mission.

They had a birthday celebration today March 1.

Please click below for a newspaper article.

H If you go down three or so paragraphs in the

newspiece you will see the Ramakrishna Math's observance.

Shree Maa is one of Ramakrishna's greatest devotees. Perhaps

the Mother is celebrating it on a different day for ashram

convenience. I do not know either way.

In any event it is nice to share with you again. You

are a sister with similar spiritual leanings.

I remember comparing dates in Ramakrishna books and with calendars on

various temple sites. Swamiji ended up telling me that they were all

wrong (including the Ramakrishna Math and Sarada Devi Math). He

prefers to celebrate according to the Bengali Lunar Calendar. I don't

have a copy of that. Since he is my guru, I am planning to go with

March 9 unless they issue a correction.

I agree that Sri Ramakrishna should be celebrated everyday. He is my

Ideal of Perfection.

Can you clarify please? The western calendar is arbitrary & confusing

what with leap years and seconds. Lunar calendar is very methodical

and scientific. My apologies for being blunt but looks like you have

no idea what it is.

Dear Raviji,

I did not make that statement. Someone else did.

I love the lunar calendar and use it for all my sankalpas.
