FROM AWAKEN CHILDREN! vol. 4

"This afternoon Mother saw two of Her

children making fun of and

laughing at someone else's

weakness. Children, before

judging another person, try

to observe your own mind, your

own thoughts and your own

actions. Try to see your own

faults and weaknesses. Become

aware of them.

If you can do this sincerely,

you will not find fault with

others because

you will realize that your own

mind is more of a mess than

theirs. Then you will not

laugh at others." - Ammachi, Awaken

Children, Vol.4 p93

"To laugh at somebody else's

shortcomings is one of the

lowest things you can do.

If you must laugh, laugh at

your own weaknesses; laugh

at your own stupidities. This

is far better than laughing

at someone else. By

being able to laugh at

your own faults, at least you

become aware of your

own lower or false nature.

If you can laugh at your own

lower nature, this means your

are evolving, and this is

consoling. You will be fit

for immortality, or at least,

you are getting closer to it."

- Ammachi, Awaken

Children, Vol.4 p93

"When you laugh at yourself

[your own lower nature or

shortcomings], this means that

you are slowly becoming aware

of your own ignorance. This

is a good sign. Once you realize

that you are ignorant, then it

is easy for the Guru to work on you.

Many disciples or devotees

simply say they are ignorant,

but they really do not mean it.

Deep down in their minds

they think that they know

many things. Actually they

do not recognize their own

ignorance."

- Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4 p93

"A person who laughs at his own

weaknesses and faults realizes

and recognizes his own ignorance.

He can easily evolve and rise

to the Supreme State of Blissful

Laughter. He can soon laugh,

watching the whole universe

as a play of God."

- Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4 p94

[As he sought forgiveness

for his mistake, tears welled

up in this brahmacharin's eyes.]

"Son, don't worry. God forgave

you as soon as you realized

your mistake and repented."

- Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4 p94

"When you laugh at someone,

remember that someone else

is laughing at your weaknesses.

No one is perfect. Look in your

inner mirror, and you

will see the black marks

in you. Once you see them

and become aware of them, you

will stop laughing. Then you

will be in a hurry to remove them.

Until then, making fun of

others will continue to close

your heart." -

Ammachi, Awaken Children, Vol.4 p95
