Salutations,

Hi Pasadini,

Thanks. We are all Amma's kid.

Now I believe has a plan for each of her children.

It simply has to work. There is simply no running away from it.

It will unfold.

We are all blessed to have Amma as our Guru.

Re: I HAVE A NAME - EKNATH

Dear Eknath,

Congratulations on you new name. It's beautiful. I really wanted Mother

to give me a name so I could be her kid.

It was great!

Thank you also for the wonderful video. It is something I could watch

several times a day. She is so beautiful and

so fascinating, and the video captures Her in the way still pictures

can't.

Jai Jai Ma!

Salutations,

Hi Joanna,

I don't know about others but for me, I have to ask. During Amma's last

visit two years ago, during Devi Bhava, I tried asking a Swamiji

(can't remember which Swami) to help me ask Amma for a name.

The Swamiji told me that Amma don't give names during Devi Bhava.

I was quite disappointed but later thought that at that time, I wasn't

really

ready for a spiritual name.

I was hesitant to ask for it this time round.

I know I have to be mentally prepared and be serious about it - which I

wasn't.

To me, getting a name from Amma is like a mother naming her child.

There will be a certain expectation on my part to live up to Amma's

"standard".

This is only my personal feeling. I just don't want to disappoint Her.

However, I later changed my mind when early that morning my wife wished

me "happy birthday". she told me it was my Lunar Calendar Birthday.

It came to mind that there would be no better time to ask. Even if Amma

says

"wait" its ok with me. I just don't want to missed this great

opportunity.

I am glad I asked and Amma didn't ask me to "wait". Maybe Amma knows

that

i have already waited. :-)

Namah Shivayah,

Almost everyone has to ask. In general names are

given out around 1:00 p.m. at a morning program.

In recent years, there are more who want them

than who get them. But if you are supposed to

get one, you will. Amma never gives names at

Devi Bhava.

Hope this helps,

Actually Jyotsna, that is not true. Though what you are saying is the norm, She

makes exceptions when She feels its appropriate. Just like sometimes She gives

mantra at a normal darshan instead of at the Bhava.

It's a given with Amma that she can change anything

at any time. It's true that she sometimes gives

mantra at other times than Devi Bhava, but never in

my experience has she ever given names at Devi

Bhava. I have a very strong memory of a person

coming up to Swami RK at DB, and saying that Amma

said she'd give them a name at DB. Ramakrishna said,

"Amma doesn't give names at Devi Bhava." So whom do

I believe, you or the swami?

Surya is right; I received my name during Devi Bhava!

After Dayamritaji told me "Amma doesn't give names at Devi Bhava."

Amma Bless,

Well I honor your experience, and I'm not here to disagree with Sw.

Ramakrishnaji, but I have seen it first hand on more than one occasion, so what

else can I say?

As you originally said, Amma doesn't generally, which means almost always, give

names on the Devi Bhava.

Hey she even married a couple at the end of a darshan. In fact I've seen this

twice.

Re: I HAVE A NAME - Pasadini

It's a given with Amma that she can change anything

at any time. It's true that she sometimes gives

mantra at other times than Devi Bhava, but never in

my experience has she ever given names at Devi

Bhava. I have a very strong memory of a person

coming up to Swami RK at DB, and saying that Amma

said she'd give them a name at DB. Ramakrishna said,

"Amma doesn't give names at Devi Bhava." So whom do

I believe, you or the swami?
