Dear Mike,

congrats on your good news.

I am a 58 yr. old, disabled lady who lives in Iceland.

You are very wise to figrue things out now, before the tour begins.

In my humble opinion, to do the whole tour would be a very physically

exhausting and challenging trip, but what do I know.

The programs go long into the night ( or early mornings). Amma does

not need sleep, but most of the rest of us do.

In my opinion, the retreats are special and great, and if you and your

daughter could attend all 5 of the retreats that would be a great summer.

>From devotees I know , who do the tour, the stops that just have 2 day

programs , are very tiring. That includes the Dallas, Chicago , Iowa

and Wash.D.C. programs. Just to skip one or two stops and rest, do

laundry and get recharged, might be a good idea.

It is correct, that the retreat days are booked at the hotels through

the Amma.org web site, and for the other days people are on their own

to find accomodations. That is not yet up on the Amma web site, but

should be soon.

If you visit the web site of the particular program you want to go

to, they usually have lists of accomodations and how far they are from

the program site, like here from the New York City site.

ACCOMMODATION

New Yorker Hotel

A block of discounted rooms has been set aside for these dates at the

New Yorker Hotel, 481 Eighth Avenue (at 34th Street). Rates are $105

per night. To reserve your room, please call the New Yorker Hotel at

212-971-0101 or 800-764-4680. Reservations may also be placed via the

hotel website, www.nyhotel.com In order to receive the discounted

rate, please mention our group name, "M.A. Center."

We strongly encourage you to secure your hotel accommodations for

Amma's visit as soon as possible, due to a limited number of available

hotel rooms.----------------------

-

In the past I have attended this program, and stayed at this hotel,

and everyhting was great. The program site is just a short walk around

the corner from this hotel, but you must book this accomodation very

soon to be able to get it.

I have also once attended the program in Iowa , in Mt.Pleasant , and

it was really nice. The Chicago program site sounds nice, and the

hotel is filling up fast, from what I know.

Ther are people on our List who can give you more specific info about

each site. Rick Archer lives in Iowa, Isvarii is from NYC, and

Jyostna is in Seattle. You can email the Santa Fe ashram, and ask

questions about the program in Albuquerque program, and they will

answer you. Someone like Jyotsna, ( Ellen Lamb - her last post was

message 18402 ) who has before done most of the tour, and can give

good and practical advce. ( she is a retired librarian.)

The retreat in Toronto (this is not yet up on the Amma web site) will

be at the Sheraton Parkway North in Richmond Hill. There is also a

Best Western next to the Sheraton, that may have cheaper rates.

I know nothing about the Boston program, but you can always email the

contact given and get info about the program.

Do not be shy to email or phone the different satsangs and ask

questions, or ask for help.

On thing you might want to discuss with your daughter, is that this

year Guru Purnima is on July 11th,when Amma is in D.C.. Whether it

will be celebrated with Amma, or not, one never knows, but if it is it

is very nice.

This is from last years Guru Purnima day, and I was in attendance.

Good luck and wishing you wonderful travels. It is a great adventure.

P.S. I am planning on attending the retreats in Albuquerque and

Toronto.

how do the folks in Iceland get the news ahead of us

in Toronto? I still haven't heard boo from the local

satsang members about this years' program site, though

the Sheraton Parkway hosted Amma in 2005, and would be

a good bet this year.

as I recall, the Sheraton and Best Western offered the

same discounted rate (around $100 CDN) for the public

program and devi bhava nights..the two hotels are

connected by a tunnel..retreat registrants were put up

in the Sheraton first, with the best western handling

the overflow.

Dear Mike,

Yes, please do contact me if I can be of assistance in terms of your NYC visit.

You can

email me or phone the information line listed on our AmmaNY.org website (I

handle those

calls). Also, I co-coordinate the darshan lines in NYC and am in contact with

the people

who are in charge of Priority Seating and also with the Greeting team. If you

might know in

advance that you'll have any special requirements, I'll be happy to see what I

can do!

That's wonderful that you'll be able to go on tour with your daughter!

If you get in touch with me, I can tell you a bit more about the accessibility

of the hall.

Blessings,

Iswari

Dear brother Keval,

thanks for your info.

About 2 weeks ago I phoned to the contact person in the Toronto

satsang, ( last name was Nair, I think), and he told me that the

Toronto program would be at the same site as last year.

So, a few days ago, I phoned the Sheraton Parkway North - Toronto ,

to ask some questions, and have booked rooms there at the Amma group rate.

I would like to ask you a few questions:

1. In Your opinion, how is the Best Western Hotel (BWH) ?

Is it a good hotel, and can my friend's husband, who is businessman

and is accompanying us to Toronto, and who does not attend the Amma

program ,be comfortable in the BWH ?

How far is it to walk from the Best Western to Amma's program in the

Sheraton ?

The Best Western has rooms with balconies that open up to the

outside, whereas the Sheraton does not have rooms with windows that

open to the outside. I usually breathe much better in a room that has

a window or a door that opens up to the outside air. This is why I am

thinking about staying at the BWH.

2. The Best Western rooms with balconies do not have screen doors;

only a sliding glass door to the balcony.

Are there a lot of mosquitoes, flies, and bees in Toronto in July , or

is this something I should not worry about ?

3. Any other advice you have to give about the Toronto venue and

program is greatly appreciated;

and I APPRECIATE YOU TOO, AND TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK YOU FOR

YOUR MODERATING WORK, for our Ammachi Group.

In Amma,

Would that be Raman or Viji Nair by any chance? Sure

are a lot of Nair's in the local satsang. Nair seems

to be about as common a surname in Kerala as Smith or

Jones, no?

Maybe the local group will get the inside dope at our

satsang tomorrow night.. still don't see it posted on

Amma.org or the AmmaCanada site.

I stayed at the Sheraton last year, not the Best

Western, so I don't know about the quality of its

rooms.. IMHO, if the TV works, the A/c works, the

bathroom is functional, that is all I need to be

comfortable in a hotel room!

They're actually connected by a tunnel.. so you don't

have to walk outside or cross streets or parking lots

to get from one hotel to the other.. but the program

halls are in the Sheraton.

it shouldn't be a major problem..but you might want to

keep the door closed and run the a/c.. Toronto's

average temperatures in July are around 25-30C (that's

the high 70s to mid-80s F).. humidity and smog can

also build up during the summer.
