During Amma's last visit two years ago, during Devi Bhava, I tried asking a Swamiji (can't remember which Swami) to help me ask Amma for a name. The Swamiji told me that Amma don't give names during Devi Bhava. I was quite dissapointed but later thought that at that time, I wasn't really ready for a spiritual name. I was hesitant to ask for it this time round. I know I have to be mentally prepared and be serious about it - which I wasn't. To me, getting a name from Amma is like a mother naming her child. There will be a certain expectation on my part to live up to Amma's "standard". This is only my personal feeling. I just don't want to disappoint Her. However, I later changed my mind when early that morning my wife wished me "happy birthday". she told me it was my Lunar Calendar Birthday. It came to mind that there would be no better time to ask. Even if Amma says "wait" its ok with me. I just don't want to missed this great opportunity. I am glad I asked and Amma didn't ask me to "wait".
