Guest guest
Since we on the same topic, I have Bhagavad Gita at home and I want to read it. is there special procedure or prayer I have to do before starting the Gita path? Which day is the best day to read it? Thanks Ms. Sanju n_ramya108 <n_ramya108 > wrote: Dear Kanti, Steve, Parvati and all Divine Family, Thanks so much Kanti for your beautiful insight into chanting! Swamiji was telling us that we can think of Bhagavad Gita as the GOAL. Just like you had said -- there are profound and high states that Lord Sri Krishna describes. But how do we get there? We chant the CHANDI. Swamiji said "Chandi is the path." How is it the path -- the way? Swamiji said that we pray to the Divine Mother (something like this) "You have to help me to get there -- i can't control my mind. Sometimes i can control by breadth. The only thing i can control is my asan -- so as long as it takes, i am going to sit in this aasan, chant your names, chant the Chandi -- You help me to get rid of all the thoughts and take me to the goal." >From this i learnt that Lord Krishna shows us the goal -- and chanting the Chandi, Divine MOther will carry us and take us there!!! :-) Does this make sense? Please share your insights and inspiration -- so we can all together share peace and love with the Universe. Jai Maa! Guest guest
Namaste.. In Swamiji's translation of the Gita, the GitaMahatmya is given to be recited prior to reading, reciting, or meditating on the Gita. Verse 21 says: "Who reads the Gita, but without reading this "Glory of the Gita", the recitation has an obstruction and it becomes a labor in vain, with concealment of heart or satisfaction." There is no mention that one day is more auspicious than another. I would highly recommend Swamiji's translation.. Have never seen the Gita Mahatmya in its entirity. In fact I have only found one other translation of the Gita that had it at all and that was a more appreviated form. Swamji's translation is so wonderful.. As in Sundar Kanda, he has made the translation to include the meaning of the names of the characters..so that we can personalize every aspect of the text..making it a lesson for our own needs and growth . In the introduction, Swamiji says : "Words fail to pay tribute to the stimulation attained through the Gita. That is why every sadhu in every generation should rewrite, retranslate it into contemporary language and symbols, which are meaningful to the understanding of that culture in terms of time, place and circumstance." Over the years I have collected several translations of the Gita by such high beings as Jnaneshwar, Shanrarcharya, and Yogananda. IN the Gita Mahatmya, Lord Krishna Himself declares:"I am situated in the Gita". Its Like the Gita is a beautiful Crystal and each translation gives a new perspective a different view of that Crystal Yikes..didn't mean to write a dissertation.. Hope this helps Ms. Sanju. Enjoy and may your heart be blessed by the Grace of the Gita.. Love, Kanti Jai Shree Maa !!
