Guest guest
>>"May I humbly recommend to those that have access to fire pit/place to try out this portion of the sankalpa? I started mine yesterday and cant recommend it enough ....Nanda" Dear Nanda and group, Here is an inspirational story for those of you who have a woodstove! Last evening, a Shivachariar from Chennai and Shiva priest from the Temple I go to arrived unexpectedly at my home...carrying all the paraphenalia for a homa and puja. They had come to do a MahaGanapati puja, house blessing and inauguration of my Temple without really telling me what they were planning. They came in, spotted the woodstove, checked the Vaastu (which direction the priest would be facing especially) and, then and there, proceeded to cover my woodstove ("Mr. Hottie") with auspicious designs in tumeric and then do a complete MahaGanapati homam! offerings of ghee and rice and bananas and seeds flying all over the place, my cats trying their best to get to the ghee (and being shooed away)and the woodstove working perfectly as a homa pit! I got so happy...realizing that (duh!) I can use my woodstove OR the small copper homa kund I had planned to use! This morning my woodstove seems quite different....(as does everything else, of course). Anyway, I thought you would all enjoy this story and, if you have any lingering doubts about whether it's "ok" to use a woodstove, this would seem to indicate that it's a terrific way to do homa! I am hoping to begin on Friday, Amavasya. best to all, sadhvi ... ------------------------ Sponsor --------------------~--> Join modern day disciples reach the disfigured and poor with hope and healing http://us.click./lMct6A/Vp3LAA/i1hLAA/XUWolB/TM --~-> <*> / <*> <*> Your

Guest guest
Namaste Sadhvi, How did you install all the deities and the yantra in the stove? Just curious as this was something I discussed with Swamiji when I was up at the Mandir. Jai Maa! Surya Namaste Surya, I can only report what I witnessed (filtered through my lack of understanding..lol). When they arrived, the Shiva priest (who is the brother in law of the Shivachariar), checked out the Vaastu. When that was deemed "good", then the Shiva priest asked for an asan, sat down in front of the wood stove (which I had somehow swept clean just that morning..for the first time since Winter ended!)...and did some prayers, then put the tumeric yantras and markings over the woodstove..on the sides and top and then in front of the stove to the right...sprinkled water etc. set up the kalasam and proceeded to do the homa as I have seen it done in the regular homa kund outside the Temple. I was simply told to sit down on my asan to the left of the priest...I only "participated" by chanting (with the others) when the Ganesha mantras were invoked and repeated...so the actual homa was being conducted by the priest, not by me. Since they are from the Chennai area, they chant so fast that I could not understand alot of the opening mantras but there was a sankalpa etc. as per usual. The Shivachariar sat on the futon sofa facing the woodstove and chanted, every once in a while adding mantras to different deities and, at that point, I noticed that the priest put the offerings into different parts of the fire. I can ask this priest if it would be helpful to you...but sometimes they tend to not give out information so openly as Swamiji and Shree Maa. The priest is kind of "conservative" and the Shivachariar is not conservative in the least! so interesting! They did a Managanapati homam...where all of the forms of Ganapati are invoked..then a very long series of mantras invoking a number of deities into the fire...then more in my "temple/puja room". I have to say quite frankly that so much of it just went by my head...I am really not on the level to understand all of what they were doing, as much as I might like to think that I am (lol). Who can tell why these things happen ..they are so mysterious an amazing! One other thing that might interest everyone here...I have the photo of Shree Maa cooking up in my kitchen, along with the food preparation and offering mantras....the Shiva priest was totally transfixed by her photograph and asked me..."Who is this?"...I replied, "Shree Maa of Kamakya"...."Huhnnnnnnmmm" (hard to paraphrase), he responded. I noticed him glancing at the photo during the homa...as my kitchen is right in back of the woodstove! As I said.....so mysterious and amazing! We are all in good hands! best regards, sadhvi <*> / <*> <*> Your
