sarvAntaryAminI : Pervading all hearts.

Sarva, all beings, anta, the senses, yAminI, directs. The Sruti [br.

Up., III. 7. 3] :"This is thy Self which is within all and is

immortal." The MAn. Up [6] also says, "This is within all and is the

origin of all".

Or, Sarva, all and antaryAmini, entered in all, ie she is all in all

and entered in all. The Sruti says, [Tai. Up., II. 6.1] : "Having

created that, he entered into it, after entering it, he became animate

and inanimate." The Smrti also gives explanation to the word sarva

thus :"Because She always knows the beginning and the end of

everything and as she creates being and non-being, She is called SarvA"

She is the indwelling, animating spirit or power in everything; She

produces action.
