Satya Saibaba's brother passes away

By Our Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR OCT. 17. The younger brother of Satya Saibaba, R.V. Janaki

Ramaiah (76), died at the Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical

Sciences at Puttaparthi in the district on Friday morning. The end

came at 10.10 am.

According to the information reaching here, his body was kept in the

hospital till 2 pm and was later shifter to his home in Puttaparthi

to allow the public to pay homage. Thousands of people from

surrounding areas including his friends paid homage to Janaki

Ramaiah.

It is learnt that Saibaba had called Janaki Ramaiah's son, Ratnakar

Raju, to his room in Prashanti Nilayam and spoke to him for an hour

after the death of his younger brother. The Minister for Animal

Husbandry and Dairy Development, N. Kistappa, and the former

Minister, A. Veerappa, were among the first to pay tributes to

Janaki Ramaiah after visiting the body.

As a key member of the Satya Sai Central Trust, which governs all

the institutions set up by Satya Saibaba across the world, Janaki

Ramaiah played an important role in all the development programmes

and works taken by the trust. He was like a bridge between the local

people and the Prashanti Nilayam.

Janaki Ramaiah always dreamt of formation of a separate district in

the name of Satya Sai with Puttaparthi as its headquarters. At

various fora, he had demanded the separate district out of backward

areas like Gorantla, Nallamada and Kadiri from the present setup of

Anantapur district.

The body of Janaki Ramaiah was buried in the evening on the banks of

the Chitravati river. He is survived by a son and three daughters.

Among those who paid tributes to the departed soul were the

secretary of the trust, Chakravarthy, the Vice-Chancellor of Satya

Sai Institute of High Learning, S.V. Giri, and the Congress leaders

P. Venugopal Reddy and A. Venkatarami Reddy.

CM Condoles death

Hyderabad: The Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, in a statement

expressed shock at the death of Janaki Ramaiah. He conveyed

heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
