Imparting human values in youths

Dennis Chua

IT TAKES effective plans and techniques to make our youngsters

upright, responsible and truly Malaysian in preparation for Vision

2020.

The Educare Conference, organised for the first time by the Sathya

Sai Central Council of Malaysia with the support of the Women and

Family Development Ministry on Dec 4 and 5 is out to make this

happen.

One of the speakers at the conference, Associate Professor Dr G.

Suresh Kumar said the event from 8.30am to 5.30pm on both days at

Hotel Singgahsana, Petaling Jaya, hopes to bring the effective

techniques of imparting universal human values in primary and

secondary education.

"We will also have discussions on effective parenting," he said.

Participants comprise teachers, principals, Parent-Teacher

Association members, representatives from non-governmental

organisations and the Government.

"The conference could not have come at a better time. We face

various problems affecting our youngsters, such as racial

polarisation and indiscipline," Suresh said.

"It is time to improve the techniques of making our youths

disciplined and confident, and future leaders," he said.

The conference would focus on youngsters aged 16 to 21.

Speakers at the conference are Education Director-General Datuk

Abdul Rafie Mahat, Sathya Sai Organisations World Youth Co-ordinator

Datuk J. Jagadeesan, Thailand Ministry of Education advisor Dr Art-

Ong Jumsai Na Ayudhya, University of Central Queensland academic

advisor Dr Pall Dhall, African Institute of Sathya Sai Education

director Dr Victor Kanu and Suresh himself.
