The Educare Conference, organised for the first time by the Sathya Sai Central Council of Malaysia with the support of the Women and Family Development Ministry on Dec 4 and 5 is out to make this happen. One of the speakers at the conference, Associate Professor Dr G. Suresh Kumar said the event from 8.30am to 5.30pm on both days at Hotel Singgahsana, Petaling Jaya, hopes to bring the effective techniques of imparting universal human values in primary and secondary education. "We will also have discussions on effective parenting," he said. Participants comprise teachers, principals, Parent-Teacher Association members, representatives from non-governmental organisations and the Government. "The conference could not have come at a better time. We face various problems affecting our youngsters, such as racial polarisation and indiscipline," Suresh said. "It is time to improve the techniques of making our youths disciplined and confident, and future leaders," he said. The conference would focus on youngsters aged 16 to 21. Speakers at the conference are Education Director-General Datuk Abdul Rafie Mahat, Sathya Sai Organisations World Youth Co-ordinator Datuk J. Jagadeesan, Thailand Ministry of Education advisor Dr Art- Ong Jumsai Na Ayudhya, University of Central Queensland academic advisor Dr Pall Dhall, African Institute of Sathya Sai Education director Dr Victor Kanu and Suresh himself. The conference will be officiated by Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
