Events at Prashanthi Nilayam

Sunday, 23 NOV 2003

 

The Birthday celeberation started at 8:00 a.m. with with the

Ananthapur Campus Band, followed by Prashanth Nilayam Girls school

Band and the PSN campus Band playing the Band followed by swami in a

new battery operated car Lombhorgini from Italy, with Swami sitting

in the front and being steered from behind. Swami came through His

usual Darshan Route and made another round once again in the Gents

side. So the mens' side He granted the long awaited Darshan twice

blessing the Devotees profusely with Abhaya Hastha. He came to the

lobby at around 8:20 a.m. Sri Chakravarthi welcomed the gathering

and introduced the three speakers who were to speak. The first was

Former Chief Justice Bhagawathi, followed by Dr. Jumsai of Thailand

and Dr Goldstein from USA. Swami started the discourse at 8:50 a.m.

and spoke till 10:00 a.m. He recounted the events if His childhood

days, even referring to incidents that preceded His Advent. He said

the parents are important to everyone and one should respect and

take care of the parents. He outlined the significance of Sai

Avathar and Puttaparthi and declared that all who live in Prashanthi

Nilayam would live for 100 years! He cited the example of Kasturi

and others and called Sri Gopal Rao, former chairman of Andhra Bank,

who is nearing 100 years and asked him to speak a few words. The

discourse came to a close with Swami singing 'Hari Bhajana Bina'.

 

Mangala Aarathi was performed at 10:00 a.m. and the program came to

a close.

 

Afternoon

 

Swami came to Sai Kulwant hall wearing yellow robe at 4:00 p.m. He

was invited by a group playing Panchavadhyam (percusison from

Kerala) and Nadaswaram (south indian auspicious music).

 

Music program by Parveen Sultana started at 4:10 p.m. and continued

until 5:00 p.m. She sang Hindustani Music (North Indian Classical

Music). At 5:00 p.m., Music Program by Dana Gillespie started. Her

program continued until 5:50 p.m. Swami enjoyed both the programs.

 

This was followed by Arathi.
