Live life based on values: Baba

B.S. MANU RAO

TIMES NEWS NETWORK[ SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2003 10:23:32 PM ]

PUTTAPARTHI: Truth, righteousness, peace and love are the four

pillars on which rests the mansion of life, said Sri Sathya Sai

Baba, addressing a mammoth gathering of devotees who thronged

Prashanti Nilayam, his Puttaparthi ashram, on the occasion of his

78th birthday.

The celebrations in the ashram, brilliantly decked with floral

decorations, began early in the morning with a colourful procession

amidst chanting of Vedic hymns.

Baba said: "The culture of the country is sustained by these four

pillars. Our ancestors led their lives based on these values.

Without them, the mansion of human life will collapse". Speaking on

values, he called upon the devotees to respect parents. One owes

what he is to his parents. You should revere them.''

Baba dwelt at length on his childhood days and recounted the

experiences people in his immediate proximity had with him and his

mission. He drew examples from his own life to underline his message

of living a life based on human values. Narrating numerous incidents

in his life, he traced the path of Puttaparthi from a small village

to a centre that is famous all over the world.

Baba blessed the devotees immensely much to their delight and

said, "I will hold your hand and take care of you. You and I are

one".

Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna and his wife, Prema, were also

present. Later in the evening, a classical music concert was

presented.
