Guest guest Posted November 25, 2003 Report Share Posted November 25, 2003 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Article published in: Newindpress.com, IndiaMonday, November 24, 2003_____ Sathya Sai Trust launches project for destitute womenMonday November 24 2003 08:51 IST THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Sri Sathya Sai Orphanage Trust–Kerala here launched a project to help 1,000 economically and physically-challenged women in connection with the 78th birthday celebrations of Sri Satya Sai Baba here on Sunday.The project named ‘Sai Abhayahasta’ was inaugurated by Trust chairman Justice K.P.Radhakrishna Menon at a function held at Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan.The project aims at rehabilitating the destitute women by assisting them to set up tea/coffee vending machines of Hindustan Lever at selected places.It is envisaged that within a month, the project would be able to help 100 women in Thiruvananthapuram.Vending machines have been installed at Tandem Group of Institutions at Sasthamangalam, GG Hospital at Murinjapalam, PRS Hospital at Killippallam, Milma at Ambalathara and Canara Bank Circle Office at Spencer Junction. The machines would become operational from on Monday.The process of distributing the vending machines throughout the State would be completed in six months, the organisers said. The beneficiaries of the project were free to decide on the place where the machine has to be installed.A brochure of Sai Gramam, a multi-crore project proposed to be developed in 50-acre land near Thiruvananthapuram, was released on the occasion. A CD on Sai Gramam was also screened during the function. The project is proposed to be inaugurated by the next year.Trust executive director Anandakumar welcomed the gathering. Vice-chairperson M.Subadra Nair delivered the key note address. Trust advisory committee chairperson J.Lalithambika presided over the function.
