It is known as VidyaSagar Institute of Management and Rural Development. A trust was formed on teacher's day Sept5th and the institute commenced classes from 18th September Our Vision: We, at VidyaSagar Institute, continually strive to impart professional and value based Rural Management education to students in order to produce enlightened youth that would work for upliftment of society. Goal: TO EDUCATE 1000 RURAL STUDENTS AND THROUGH THEM UPLIFT 100000 RURAL PEOPLE. The institute conducts a 3-year program leading to diploma in development management, certified by center for entrepreneurship development. Students are also encouraged to pursue BBA from any reputed Univ. through distance learning. A network of NGOs in and around Coimbatore supports us. Experts from Agricultural Univ., Gandhigram rural Univ., Indian institute of forest management, Alumni of IRMA are giving us helping hand. Some very reputed professors at IIM Bangalore, who work with NGOs, are with us. In the first batch we have 15 students. All are from families with monthly income of around Rs.1000/-. In the last few weeks we have achieved a lot. Our students are very motivated and are eager to learn and serve. They sit for long sessions of 3 hrs continuously. Considering the fact that they are in the age group of around 18, it is a commendable achievement. They meditate everyday before the classes for 30 min. They are different from the students of all the other colleges in Coimbatore City. They have also attended one-day workshop on "Human rights and development" conducted by our associate NGO, Shanthi Ashram.
