Events at Prashanthi NilayamWednesday, 28 JAN 2004MorningIn the morning, Swami

came in the red maruthi car at 7:25a.m. The Muddenahalli and Alike students

chanted the Vedas. Devotional singing by a group also started simultaneously.

Swami drove through the Gents side also and came and sat in the lounge. The

Cultural Program by the group started with the dance item “Shiva Shakthi” at

around 8:00 a.m. This was followed by a group of Vedic pundits offering

‘Astavadhana” to swami. Ashtavadhana means chanting of four Vedas followed by

reciting eight Angas namely Ithikasa, Purana, Vyakarana,Tharka, Miamsu,

Vedantha, Gana and Nritya. It was unique and went on till 9:20 a.m. Swami left

the mandir at about 10:15 a.m.AfternoonIn the afternoon, the cultural programs

started at 3:00 p.m. with Swami arriving by white SAAB convertible. Following a

brief chanting of the Vedas, typical village dances from various parts of

Karnataka was performed by the students. After that, there was a musical drama

on “Dashavatar”. This was done very well with the last item of the Dashavatar

depicting a few instances from swami’s childhood. Swami was so happy with the

program that He almost spent forty five minutes with the children posing for

photographs. He also distributed watches and dresses to most of the children

who performed the Drama and the members of the Band. While Swami was spending

time with the children, the Band was playing beautifully various Sai Bhajans,

Aigiri Nandini etc. Swami was extremely pleased with the Band group also. Swami

left at 5:20 p.m.
