A dream

Dear folks,

Sai Ram

I would like to share a dream experience I had last night with you

all. It was a profound dream about pearls in a deep pond of water.

My thoughts are the dream was very much like one of Baba's

quotations but one I have unfortunately forgotten.

If anyone has the quotation about 'diving deep for spiritual

pearls,' would they kindly post it on the group for my attention.

The Dream:

I was somewhere near Swami's community in India but not actually

with him.

There was a large and deep body or pool of water, at the bottom of

the pool there was a necklace with a large centre pearl. (A very

beautiful and precious necklace indeed.)

I was with a Sai friend, I feel I'd asked her to dive into the

pool to pick up the necklace, but I feel she couldn't do so. I then

plunged into the pool, dived to the bottom and picked up the

necklace, then surfaced as fast as I could.

But somehow I knew this was the wrong thing to do. By surfacing

quickly in deep water, I would experience the 'benz' (the divers

condition that can, through water pressure, crush them to death.)

In my dream I dived a second time, picked up the necklace from the

bottom of the deep pool, then surfaced slowly, stopping and holding

my breath, the way divers do,to avoid the benz.

I eventually emerged with the necklace in my hand.

End of dream.

I awakened fresh from the dream image and thought of Baba.

Hope someone can help with the quotation.

Many thanks.

here is the quotation:

You must dive deep into the sea to get the pearls. What good is it to dabble

among the waves near the shore and swear that the sea has no pearls in it and

that all tales of their existence are false. So also if you must realise the

full fruit of this Avathaar, dive deep and get immersed in Sai Baba.

Half-heartedness, hesitation, doubt, cynicism, listening to tales, all are of

no avail. Concentrated complete faith - that alone can bring victory.

Discourse of Sathya Sai Baba, Bangalore, Akhanda Bhajana, 10 July 1959

Another quotation:

The grace of the Lord is always flowing like the electric current through the

wire. Fix a bulb, and the current, to the extent of the wattage, will illumine

your home. The bulb is the Saadhana you perform; the home is your heart. Come

to Me gladly; dive into the sea and discover its depth; there is no use dipping

near the shore and swearing that the sea is shallow and has no pearls. Dive deep

and you will secure your desire.

Discourse of Sathya Sai Baba, Guudur, 22 July 1958SSS I, Chap 10 - Online

Finally, a miraculous incident narrated in "Sathyam Sivam Sundaram":

When a devotee told Baba, "I heard that your Kerala tour was most pleasant and

wonderful. I am sad that I was not destined to join," Baba replied, "Have the

confidence and hope that when next such an opportunity arises, you may be able

to join. Meanwhile, listen to the account given by those who joined, and be

happy."

A word about that adjective, 'wonderful': The devotee was referring to a very

dramatic, indeed astounding miracle that happened at Kanyakumari. In the

evening when the sky had turned into a carnival of pink and purple, and the

clouds had decorated themselves with golden fringes, Baba proceeded to the

seashore and with His Bhakthas around Him, played with the waves of the seas

that mingle there. Each succeeding wave seemed to be more eager than the

previous one to touch His lotus Feet, and to offer Him its own special homage.

Suddenly, as if aware of the yearning of the seas, Baba stood facing the waters

and said to those beside Him, 'See! The Ocean is welcoming Me, with a Garland.'

At the very moment one could discern a stately wave a few yards away, advancing

majestically towards the shore and, soon it swept Baba's Feet and receded.

Imagine the wonder and amazement of every one when they found, round Baba's

Feet a bewitching pearl garland, swaying and swinging with every surge of the

waters around Them! One hundred and eight translucent pearls each a priceless

gem, strung on a thread of gold! O, how charming Baba looked! The Avathar of

the Lord receiving the homage of Varuna again!

Father Divine, teach me to dive deep in the ocean of meditation for the

pearls of wisdom. Teach me to plunge headlong, armored with the diving

suit of conscience, that the sharks of passions may not destroy me.

If I find not the wisdom-pearls by one or two divings, teach me not to

call the sea of meditation devoid of the pearls of Thy wisdom.

/Rather teach me to find fault with my diving./ Teach me to dive again

and again in meditation, deeper and deeper always, until I find Thine

immortal pearls of wisdom and divine joy.
