News for July 31, 2004

 

Today morning Bhagawan came out at 7:10 AM. He was welcomed with

Nadaswaram and Veda Parayanam. Today was the first day of a program

organized by women on Indian Culture. The whole hall was decorated

in Kerala style - with coconut leaves, plantain trees, coconuts and

pineapples!! Swami was received by little girls in two rows with

lighted lamps. Swami came to the stage and lighted the lamp as

requested by Mrs. Ratanlal. Then Ms. Chetana gave her introductory

remarks on the importance of Indian culture and introduced the

speakers. Mrs. Rajeswari Patel spoke on Hinduism, Ms. Nandini spoke

on Buddhism, Ms. Selvia from Washington on Christianity and Ms

Sheeba Bazuruddin on Islam. At 8:45 AM, Prasadam was distributed ans

sarees were given to servant maids working in Mandir. Then after

Arathy Swami left for Poornachandra.

 

In the evening, Bhagawan came at 3:10 PM and He was welcomed with

Nadaswaram and Vedam. He sat on the chair and asked the organizers

to begin the program. There was a musical concert by Priya sisters

(Hari Priya and Vishnu Priya (?)). Swami Himself asked them to sing

Entaro Mahanu Bhavulu and Nee Dayaradha. Swami created chains for

them and gave sarees and dhotis to those who accompanied them. After

this, Swami made them sing one more song. Then he turned to Vedam

boys and asked them to chant Sama Gana. After 10 minutes, He took

Arathy . Tomorrow the program continues.

News for August 1, 2004

 

This morning Bhagawan came out for Darshan by 7:10 AM. He was

welcomed with Nadaswaram and Veda chanting. He got down from the car

in the middle, got on to the stage and sat on the chair. First there

was a Veena recital by one of the lady lecturers of Mirpuri college

of music, Prasanthi Nilayam. After half an hour or so there was a

panel discussion on the topic 'Seetha as an ideal Woman. This was

done by the Anantapur college teachers. When this was going on, Mr.

Rajanikanth walked in and he was sitting with the rest of the

guests. But Swami did not turn from His chair at all. At the end of

the discussion, Swami got up and created a ring for one of the

lecturers.

 

In the evening, Bhagawan came out at 3:20 PM. He got down in the

middle of the hall, called all those who participated in the panel

discussion in the morning and gave them all sarees. Then there was a

drama by the Bal Vikas children of Hyderabad. They had professional

settings and excellent acting. The choice of children for the

various roles in the play was excellent. It was one of the best

programs we had in the recent past. At 4:35 PM, Swami came down and

stood for group photos. He created a chain for Rama. He again went

up, sat down and asked for Bhajans to be started. Then He asked for

apples to be brought. He came down again and He himself started

giving the apples to the actors! Then He slowly went up. After a few

songs He took Arathy. Thus ended the Indian culture and spirituality

meet.
