Guest guest
"hastasana" <hastasana Tue Aug 24, 2004 3:17pm Re: Japa meditation There are many different forms of meditation it would be hard to advise you what is best. Most of us are just beginners, and as such, it might be a good idea to keep the meditation practise to around 20 minutes. Best to find a comfortable quiet place to sit - then close your eyes and centre yourself. If you have prayer beads you can use them. Many people find that concentrating on their breath is one way to quieten their minds, others concentrate on white light or start with prayer. I often begin with visualisation of light, then prayer. Then I visualise the light flowing into my body and protecting me. This is a very common form of meditation but can bring good results. I keep it simple. blessings H. ---------- pravin patel <pravinpatel Tue Aug 24, 2004 9:37pm Re: [saibabanews] Japa Dhyanam swami has said do silent sitting not meditation. meditation used to be done by sants and sadhus who used sit into meditation for years and years. sitting silently into consentration for a few minutes or hours is not meditation, please get tyhis particular word *MEDITATION* clearified before you get into this topis. this was said to our group in an interview. regards pravin ---------- KellyYoga <kellyyoga Tue Aug 24, 2004 10:45pm Re: [saibabanews] Japa Dhyanam It's taken me a while to get the ball rolling in this respect. Right now I am chanting Om 21 times, Gayatri 9 times, Loka Samastha 3 times and saying prayers & meditating on form after I wake up in morning in front of Sai Baba's or Shirdi Sai's picture. It is a daily practice thanks to Baba. Its not very long but I've finally started. I also chant Gayatri throughout the day when possible & sing bhajans that come to me. Could you please explain in detail about your interview with Swamy and what Swamy told you about meditation. Thanks so much Sai Ram ---------- Kedar Chintapalli <mkchintapalli Wed Aug 25, 2004 10:07pm Re: [saibabanews] Re: Japa Dhyanam Sai Ram I just want to give my humble opinion on Japam n& Dhyanam. Yogaha Chitta Vritti NIrodhaha!! says PAtanjali. If that is so we have all kinds of YOGA< through Japam and Dhyanam Rajayogam, Karma Yogam through Service, Jnana Yogam through Study Circle, and Bhakti Yogam through devotional singing and activities. One may meditate for many minutes and for many years. One may do Jyotri meditation as per the rules of the SSO and Centre needs. One may feel floating in the air might have seen the light touching every one and every thing. One may claim to many experiences through these practices. Our Bhagawan is practical GOD. He knows that in spite of all of these we are still in need of controlling the GOD given senses nib our day to day interactions. Some people might need meditation, some service and some reading and going within. Some may simply love Bhagawan and pine for his Darsan, sparshan and sambhaashan. A person willl know what works in their spiritual growth. Spirituality definition is feeling happy and blissful; one may feel the proximity to the highest energy and get blissful. Swami has shown us the ROYAL ROAD to this state through selfless service and namamsmarana to MEDIATE the SENSES; Mediating the senses to control the thought, word and action is meditation. For me, chopping a vegetable, taking care of a patient or my own child, with his name on the tongue and heart is a process of meditation. Every moment then becomes a meditative mood. How can then any moment be away from GOD. He is the constant in dweller!! witnessing every opinion, thought, word and action. IN this state Hagan will reveal himself to you in one form or the other at all times!!!
