Guest guest
Light and Love "Song of my life" continues with author's painstaking attempts to reach to the essence of Unity, Oneness the what is illuminates through the veil of Maya. CHAPTER XXII The Marvel of Maya is the Oneness of Existence Multiple forms born of a single Source Many noises emanating from one Sound Countless steps performing only one Dance A display of various feelings expressing Love alone O Fire of Oneness blind my roving eyes! "Yes! It is time to take a leap", my Lord responds "On the road to Unity you have to leave behind the unnecessary gatherings of partitions Once you discover the deep yearning for the Light of One-ness within your heart know that this calls for a radical awakening of the mind, an applying of uncompromising logic Whenever the mind seeks your distraction by her so-called righteous distinctions promptly abandon her and search with all your might for that golden place in your heart, where the Clear Waters of Truth submerge you in the longing for the Divine, the Presence of the One alone For how can one claim to wish to find the One yet carefully hold on to labeled separations thereby consciously distancing himself from the One Too afraid to abandon his reasonings he falls prey to false piety trying desperately to justify his fears Waste no time Take a deep breath and stand up straight Let your intense yearning burn away all hypocrisy and find the all-consuming Fire of Love Enter without fear the Cooling Heat of Non-dual Awareness, where the poison of the snake as well as the fragrance of the flower are found to be expressions of the same Divine Source empowered by the same Primal Energy A touch of this non-judgmental state we find in the receiver of a gift like the parent who is delighted by the gift of its child if the child produced a beautiful painting or a poor drawing it differs not for the parent, if it created a sweet delicacy or a bitter tasting food the mother's tongue is equally pleased Or ... the present of your loved one, the thoughtfulness of his gesture is what melts the heart whether the gift is made of gold or brass is of no interest to you The sweet attention of the mother eases the child's pain if she brings actual medication or just the concerned caress of her soothing hand In True Love One-ness remains forever untouched it allows no separations, it finds no distinctions, it fails to reason It only sees Divine Innocence The Brightness of Its Golden Effulgence overshadows the panorama of colors It eagerly relishes the Richness of Unity Drunk with delight the mind ceases to reach out and surrenders her views to the Vision of the Heart where the Holiness of Consciousness is sublimely enshrined Consciousness alone exists The pure of heart do not dabble in fragmented awareness They feel at one with the all-pervasive air They do not limit themselves to that small portion of air which their breath carries into their minute frames Air is their Home they travel unrestricted and perceive no imprisoned portions of this Breath Divine Its Holiness they leave intact Its Auspiciousness they revere Travel with these Great Ones Join their unlimited companionship Here you find the true nourishment for your soul where the Magic of Maya fades into the blinding Light of the Exposure of the One" Continued... A Cosmic Person by Swami The poem's Chapter directed me to Swami's explanation as an epic poem dedicated to the Cosmic Person. To fuse into illumination of Jyothi is an experience for human being what he/she tries to express by words. However, it is a relative explanation... anyone of human beings cannot explain by words what is beyond horizon "where the Magic of Maya fades intothe blinding Light of the Exposure of the One" (Jeannette Caruth). "The word Jyothi (Light) does not connote the physical light of the material world. When material limits or qualifications like charana or feet are ascribed to light, how can the immanent, all-pervasive Entity be indicated? Such a limited or qualified phenomenon cannot become the object of adoration and meditation. When this word Jyothi is understood to mean the light embodied and having certain natural characteristics, it cannot signify Brahman, the Universal Absolute. The Purusha Suktha, the Hymn in praise of the Cosmic Person, declares: "Paadoasya viswa bhoothaani": "The entire Cosmos with all Its Component Elements is but one quarter of His Glory." Therefore, It is beyond bounds, measures or degrees. The Jyothi illumines Heaven and beyond, It reveals even Brahman. That which makes known, by its splendour, the era preceding the origin of living beings, and the regions beyond even the farthest and the highest, "That" is indicated by the word Jyothi. It shines in that supremest among supreme Loka (region). Note also that the same Jyothi shines everywhere, at all times, in all beings. It comprises Asthi (Sath; Existence), Bhaathi (Chith; Illumination; Knowledge), and Priya (Ananda; Joy; Bliss). All things seen in the Universe have the unseen as its base. All things that move have the unmoving as its base. So, too, for every living being, why, for the very Cosmos itself, the invisible Brahman, the Supra-Truth, Para-Brahman is the Basis. It is this Para-Brahman, the Omni-Self, that causes the Cosmos to shine. Jyothi is the word appropriate only for this Light and not the limited, inferior, physical light. Jyothi has neither beginning, nor end. It is the Param Jyothi (Supreme Light), the Adwaitha Jyothi (the Jyothi without a second), the Akhanda Jyothi (the Eternal Light). In other words, It is the Para-Brahman Itself, for all this is revealed only in and through It. The Jyothi referred to here cannot be interpreted otherwise." (Sathya Sai Baba. Sutra Vahini. Page 46).
