Second Bird

Last week, there was a story telling competition in

Telugu kala samiti -Bahrain, where a little girl told

a story which I liked immensely and want to share with

you all. some of you might have heard about it.

pl. reead it comltely. we can be not just second bird

but can be third also.

THE SECOND BIRD

 

There were two brothers from a business family in a

village. Elder brother is well established in the

business and the younger is nice person but not

skillful in business. Elder brother advises younger

one to go to other villages to do business. The

younger one, in search of trade passes thru a desert.

There he finds a very interesting thing. In the middle

of desert, there is no water and no trees and a blind

bird with broken wings lies there. Looking at the bird

the younger brother thinks it can not live longer.

Suddenly, another bird comes from no where, and brings

soem food for the first bird. soon he realises, this

must be continuing for a long time. even if the wounds

heal, hte bird can not fly as it is blind. The younger

brother comes back home and narrates this story to his

brother and tells him God is great. Even he is feeding

the bird in the middle of the desert.

 

The younger one, thinks as he did not harm any body

and known as a nice person in the village, God will

definitely help him also. The elder brother listens to

the story and thinks other wise. He asks his brother,"

no Doubt God helps nice people". But did you ever

think of the second bird?

 

The second bird is hale, healthy and instead of

enjoying its life, it i is all the way flying to the

desert to feed the blind bird. Do you want to be first

bird or the second bird?"

 

The younger brother realises the lesson and works hard

to become a big business man and helps many more.

 

 

p.s The moral of the story is known before the little

girl could complete. But the story moved me so much ,

I thought I will share with you. If you are already

aware of the story, pl. share with others. If you are

already the second bird, support the second bird. Like

be the merchant who gives grains to the second bird(my

addition to the story). If you are the first bird, "Do

n’t worry, have faith in God". But goodness is what

spreads and what sustains the world , not the money,

nor the power nor intelligence. As mind is superior to

body, Heart is superior over mind.

 

A small kind act will be remembered and benefitted by

not only by those who receive help, but those who see

it,share it. In fact, we are all supposed to be role

models for others, which is the reson Swamy says,

"your life is my message".
