Guest guest
Drive nets 70 pints of blood(Monday, November 08, 2004) A LAST minute turnout of donors helped the Sri Sathya Sai organisation in Lautoka to collect 70 pints of blood, five short of its target on Saturday. Lautoka branch chairperson Satendra Prasad said many donors had to be turned away because their blood pressure was high. He said some donors came after doing their shopping and did not qualify because it was very hot and their pressure was above normal. Mr Prasad said the organisation tried to collect more than 1000 pints blood annually from all its branches and donated it to the Fiji Red Cross Society. He said first-time donors were given certificates while the Red Cross honoured regular donors. The blood drive is organised every three months. In addition, the organisation holds free medical camps in rural areas. sourced: http://www.fijitimes.com/story.aspx?id=11290
Guest guest
Sai Ram Brothers and Sisterss, This news really makes me feel good. Fiji is such a small place and 70 pints from Lautoka alone is a lot of liquid donation collected. Shows how dedicated Fiji people. Here in the United States we do once a year on the only day sat aside by our beloved Lord and we hardly get 40 pints of blood. And this too is organised in the Bay Area. I salute the people of Fiji. Makes me feel proud as I am from that LITTLE place in the Pacific too.
