Om Sai Ram

I am travelling to India at the end of the month and would like to

visit Shirdi while I am there.

Can anyone please advise me as to how much it costs to go there from

Mumbai if I want to travel by taxi, as well as how many hours it takes

to get there.

Can you also recommend any hotels that I could stay at and

approxmately how much it costs per night.

Thanks

Jayshree

Re: [saibabanews] Shirdi

Sairam Jayshree,

The taxi fare should come around 3500-4500 INR.The

distance is around 300 KM and so it may take something

around 7-8 hours to reach the sansthan. Please visit

the link http://www.saibaba.org/saipage3.html for more

information about the temple. I'm not sure about the

hotels, but you can get info about accommodation on

the link given. Have a safe trip.

Sai Ram. I would advise U to visit the site

www.saibaba.org & get travel details from say Mumbai

etc. There r plenty of Hotels in Shirdi with varying

rates from Rs 600 & above. If U can get Samsthan's

guest rooms or Guest House closer to the temple,

nothing like that. All the Best & have a nice trip.

Sai Ram! We went to Shirdi from Mumbai 4 years ago. We

rented a jeep which was not such a good idea. If Baba

wants us to do it again, we would take the luxury

coaches that go from near Church gate in Colaba. They

are very comfortable reasonably priced and you ahve

company of othet devotees. We stayed in the only 4

star hotel there was at the time. I can't remember the

name exactly but had sandy or sands word in the

name. You will see big signs on the way to the

Shirdi. The manager was a wonderful oriental lady

married to an indian. She was fabulous and very

delighted to have visitors from Toronto. It was v.v

comfortable and had an excellent vegetarin restaurant

in it and the meals were included in the pakcage for

the hotel. Car service to mandir (free of charge) was

available any time to take you back and forth to the

temple at any hour..all you had to do was call. .you

willnot want to leave. We would ahve stayed longer but

driver was too anxiuos to get back... Have a wonderful

darshan.

Re: [saibabanews] Shirdi

dear jayshree

you did not specify where from you are arriving. any how after

landing in mumbai, contact any govt.organized tours through

maharastra tourism / indian tourism offices. you can get all the

information from where to where & how etc., through net.

in case if you are any way touching hyderabad, a.p.tourism has a

nice package for shirdi. do not get cheated by any cab drivers or

private vehicles. even though it is little more, trust the govt.

organizations. they will love to help you in a simple manner that

includes accommodation and good food also. get in touch with any

govt. authorized / govt.organizations in this respect. the total

time to reach shirdi from mumbai by road is 10 / 12 hours. if it is

a private vehicle it may come down to 2 hours or little more. pl

remember not to travel alone and not with any huge cash or costly

things. contact maharastra tourism offices through net. with regard

to the seasonal rush at shirdi, contact the shirdi samsthan through

any local shirdi sai temples.

if my above communication is not of your taste, pl excuse me.

i strongly hope, the Lord of Sai will definitely guide / help / take

you to His Abode in a most comfortable manner. your trip will surely

give you a wonderful experience.Pray Him to help you.

please pray for my sake also at Shirdi.

with best wishes

Re: [saibabanews] Shirdi

SaiRam, A trip to Shirdi by omni bus service is the

best for those who do not have their own transport.

There are many travel agents, just call them, book

your seat and let them know that you need

accommodation as well. The luxury coaches depart

mostly by night and reach shirdi early morning around

6 am We can refresh and proceed to have darshan. The

ticket must be around 1000(I think for a return

ticket) and accommodation might be another 1000 per

night per person depending upon the facilities and

availability of rooms it might be costlier for ac

rooms. It is difficult to get sansthan accommodation

without recommendations etc. I may be wrong because I

might have visited during the time of holidays when it

is usually very crowded. Further people from Bombay

might post useful information which will benefit all

readers in this news group.

Please check with the travel agents and make a

pleasant trip. Shirdi baba received people with great

warmth and each time our stay is such a memorable

one(my personal experience) as you will enjoy your

trip, stay and experiences in parthi.

There are also trains, other bus services, can hire a

taxi From Bombay no difficulties in going to Shirdi.

Re: [saibabanews] Shirdi

Sairam,

With ref to the Hotels in Shirdi , there are many places to stay

depending on your budget. For instance, you could stay at Sanstan's

cottages - which are priced at 100-150 Rs / day. But they are given

to families and groups only. Three Mangoes is a Maharastra Govt

Hotel, and has budgets from 500 to 750 per day . Checkout time 12

Noon.

You have other hotels like Garodia's which caters to high end

customers with prices ranging from 1500- 2000 Rs / day. You do have

various other hotels out there with prices ranging 100 to 1500 per

day , depending on ameneties provided.

With regard to the travel time and cost of ticket from Mumbai, I am

unable to help you. But i do know that you have Volvo buses and

delux buses which run from Borivili to Shirdi and back. Some one

from Mumbai in this forum should be able to help you on that.

May you have a pleasent and wish full filling journey to Shirdi. And

please do pray to Baba on our behalf , when you reach there.

Regards

Shrikant

Sairam,

It would certainly be nice if Shirdi Sai temple was on the

way from Bangalore to Puttaparthi, since I will be going that way on

Dec. 18th on my way to audition for the chorus at Prasanthi Nilyam.

Many prayers and blessings for you. Sairam, dobby

Re: [saibabanews] Shirdi

Sai Ram Sis,

U can travel by government bus or private from Dadra. The govn buses

costs 157rps (one trip). There are many private buses, comfortable

ones from the other side of Dadra station, its at a Hotel (can't

remember the name) and cost is 120rps. You should take the 8pm bus

and should reach at 3am.

Then, proceed to accommodation building, 1 is next to mandir and the

other near the bus stop. They charge nominal rates and its like in

Prashanti Nilayam. The one near the bus stop also provides transport

to mandir every 30mins.

The entire program start fr 4am with the kakad arati and follows with

other puja's. go to shirdisai.com for more info.

have a good trip.

Re: [saibabanews] Shirdi

Om Sai Ram,

For travelling to Shirdi from Mumbai, you can go by the private

luxury buses which are quite comfortable and also reasonably

priced. When we went last year to Shirdi from Bombay, we boarded

the bus from Thane Naka early in the morning and it takes

approximately 7 to 8 hours to reach Shirdi. Reg hotels, there are

quite a lot of hotels to suit everyone's needs and

specifically, "Hotel Garodia's" is quite good. It may cost you

around INR 700-800 per day. Food is also quite good and this hotel

is close to the temple also. For further details, please log on to

www.shirdibaba.org. We wish you a very comfortable and happy trip

to Shirdi and May Baba bless all.

Visiting Shirdi

Sairam Jayshree,

I would suggest take a deluxe coach or air-conditioned bus from

Mumbai instead of wasting money on Taxi. They leave every 30

minutes from Dadar and there are many private operators with good

buses. Price is very reasonable and fixed. They show a movie on the

way and halt for meals and refreshments. You can do the booking in

advance at many locations in the City on reaching Mumbai or even do

a return booking.

It takes about 7 to 8 hours drive by bus and some also halt at the

temple in Nasik.

During my short trips to India, I used to take the 8:00 PM A.C.

Coach from Dadar and reach Shirdi at 4:00 AM. Check into a room/

shower and ready for early morning arti or abhishek at the temple.

Then spend some time visiting the holy place and take rest in the

room for two hours and board return AC Coach at 2:00 PM reaching

Mumbai at 10 PM. This way in one day one can have Shirdi darshan.

If you have lots of time then stay the night and also visit the

Shani Temple next day.

The Hotel rates may vary from Rs. 400 to 4000 per night. There are

lots of Hotels as you get out of the bus. There will be also many

guides/agents who will pull you to various hotels and also to

various shops for buying flowers/prasad and thali for prayers.

Please watch out and avoid them as they will have their commission.

A good guide may also prove to be helpful sometimes. The shop that

sells you flowers will also take care of your shoes if you drop with

them.

Never show that you are coming from abroad and act like a local

Indian.

Have a blissful time at Shirdi.

Jai Sai Ram.

Sairam Neeru,

Thank you for sharing this information. Perhaps the taxi driver would

know where this temple is in Devanhalli and allow me to stop and bow at the

feet of Shirdi Baba. Blessings to you and yours and all your good works. A

Happy,Healthy,Prosperous,Joyful and Healing Diwali to you and yours!
