A Dancing Bliss

Among the various art forms, spiritual music and natya blossoms happiness. APJ

Abdul Kalaam at the conclusion of the dance drama "Narthaki Kirtanam" performed

by the leading Bharatnatyam dancer Vasanthi Sridhar and her students of Sai

International Centre in Delhi on Tuesday.

According to Vasanthi, the project took shape when "the abhangs were divinely

revealed to me in Sanskrit, Marathi, Brij Basha and Telegu". The dance drama,

based on 21 abhangs and kirtans, was written by Vasanthi Sridhar and sung by

Hariharan and Suresh Wadkar. The music was composed by Ashit Desai. These

recording s are available on Times Music audio album "Bhav Tarangini".

The stage presentation had commenced with a Sai Kirtan, to mark the birthday of

Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Then salutations were paid to all lords including Shiva

and Shakti, the omni-present deities for classical dance exponents.

When former Election Commissioner T. N Seshan was called upon to felicitate the

performers, he said "Only a pure devotee is capable of such bliss"
