For husband-and-wife team, Robert and Rita Bruce from the United States, the key to this new parenting method is to infuse spiritual values and to influence children to think logically and rationally. Drawing from over 30 years of experience conducting workshops, seminars, and lectures worldwide as well as raising their four kids, Rita and Robert will speak about overcoming the turbulent period faced by parents of teenagers. In their opinion, if this phase is not handled properly, the turbulence could threaten to persist as a permanent rift between a child and his parents. The couple will also talk about re-establishing the intimate bond between parents and their children. Working with various welfare groups in the United States, Rita notices that modern day children have became “parent smart” and are able to manipulate their parents at their will. In one of her four books, Sathya Sai Parenting, Rita wrote: “Our children need boundaries; clear limits can provide security.” The couple, who follow the teachings of Sathya Sai, will point out the proper way of nurturing children as opposed to indulging them with material comforts. They will speak at Sunway University College Multi-Purpose Hall from 7.15pm to 9.30pm on March 5 at the invitation of Sathya Sai Central Council of Malaysia. Admission is free. Those who are interested in attending the talk can register with Sathya Sai Academy of Human Values at 03-2274 4827, fax at 03-2274 5901 or e-mail your particulars to educare (AT) myjaring (DOT) net or sairama (AT) streamyx (DOT) com.
