Guest guest
The NASA picture of Bhagwan's Face with Earth as backdrop, is given in ShakuntalaBalau's Book on Bhagwan. I had been to Rameswaram and Dhanuskodi last week . The heavy stones that floated !!, samples are still available and displayed in a small Hanuman temple there. The Holy Temple of Rameswaram even today seems to narrate the crucial episodes of Ramayana as i experienced. The main deity Shivalinga was worshipped by LordRama. To ward off the sins of having slayed an ardent devotee of Shiva ( Ravana) Lord Rama decided to worship Lord Shiva. He asked Hanuman to bring ShivaLinga. Hanuman flew to the abode of Shiva , Kailas/ Himalayas to bring the shiva linga. Meanwhile it was getting late. Theywere all assembled on the seacoast. Seetha Devi realising the importance of adhereing to auspicious time, made aformation of Shiva Linga with Her Divine palms using sea Sand. Lord Raama started the Pooja with this Linga. The Holy Temple of Ramesswaram has this Linga intalled as the Main Deity. Hanuman arrived soon and the pooja was also done for that Lingam and this Lingam is installed adjacent to the Main Lingam. It is practice that the Devotees first offer their pranams to that Lingam brought by Hanuman, then worship other deities, offer pooja to the Divine mother consort of Shiva, and finally worship Lord Ramanatha the presiding Deity of Rameswaram. On Dec22nd 1964 the entire town of Dhanushkodi with about 12000 people perished in a severe cyclonic storm that Hit the seacoast. Rameswaram Temple and its presincts remained in Tact. During the recent Tsunami , too on Dec 26th of 2004 The town of Rameswaram andthe Holy temple were spared .
