KUNGILIYAK KALAYA NAYANAR 10.0pt;font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-style:normal">Kadavur font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> is the land where the river Kaveri gently flows. It is prosperous in production and worship. With the vedic rituals happening all around, even the rain would be smelt to have the odor of the ghee in the ritual fire. In that town lived a devotee named Kalayar. Reinforced by a high degree of discipline, he led the life totally surrendered to the Spear-handed Lord who stood striking down the fast coming death of the young sage Markandeyar. In his loving service to his dearest Lord Kalayar used to put the fragrant smoke of Kungiliam (Benzoin) and worship the Lord with his heart sublimating in that love. His wealth was spent off fully in that service, still he did not think of a pause. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">With nothing left for even food and the relatives and family in discomfort, Nayanar's companion in his charity - his wife gave her Thali (Mangala Sutram - important ornament for married Hindu women) and asked him to get rice grains for food. When he was proceeding to bring some rice by selling that, on his way came a merchant who sells the Kungiliyam. The devotee with the sacred thread was delighted to see the Kungiliyam. As soon as he saw that he forgot everything and the only thought that stood in his mind was that he is blessed to do the great service by the God that day too, what else to buy. He got that sack of Kungiliyam in exchange for that “thali” and with great devotion started towards the holy abode of Lord Shiva. With the nectar of love filled full in his heart he burnt them for the Lord sitting as the nectar pot. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">The whole family kept waiting for the Nayanar to come home with the rice grains. As he didn’t return they all slept in hunger. The devotee without thinking about his family’s plight continued to do his service at the temple font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">. While the devotee was in the temple continuing his prayers, on the Almighty's command the Deva of wealth font-style:normal">Kuberan "Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold"> placed a huge wealth in the devotee’s place and the Compassionate Lord appeared in the dream of the devotee’s wife and indicated the grace. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">She woke up and got a sweet shock as the entire house had become rich in wealth. While praising the feet of God of Merciful she started making delicious food for her beloved husband. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">Meanwhile the Lord conveyed to the Nayanar to go home and have the milk rice and end his hunger. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> Unable to refute His grace he saluted and went home. He saw that his house was completely changed with heaps of material decorating it. With raised brows, he enquired his wife. She told the mercy of Lord Shiva. Worshiping the Holy feet of the Lord they had the feast with the devotees of the Lord. He continued the fragrant service. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">Once the Lord of Thirukkadavur, bent the head of His "Comic Sans MS";font-style:normal">Shivalingam to help a deva - virgin by name Thadakai to worship Him as the king who stood straight in front of the Shivalingam blocked the view. The king tried with his elephants, soldiers and all force, to straighten the Lingam. They all became tired but the Lord did not stand straight. color:blue"> bold">Nayanar who had the distinguishable great love for the God, tied the Lord with a floral garland and tied that with a rope on his neck. He pulled, not to test or show his power, but to participate in the service; not having big physical force, but with an admirable force of love for the Master. How can the Lord who cannot be impressed by force, neglect his selfless love. He stood straight blessing the ripe love of the Nayanar directed towards Him. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">The king fell down on the feet of the Nayanar praising the devotion. The king left after doing many services to the Lord. The loving devotee of the Supreme continued his services to beloved Swami and did various services to the Mrityujnjaya. He was granted the boon to reside eternally under the comfort of the Lord Shiva’s fragrant feet color:blue">. color:black"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Sai Ram 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Shivathmika 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> Attachment: (image/jpeg) image001.jpg [not stored]
