CHERUTHTHUNAI NAYANAR 10.0pt;font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-style:normal">Thanychavur font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> is a place well known for farming with the constant rhythm of the streams and slow wind patting the paddies. In an agricultural family of that town came the staunch servant of the Lord who stomped the ” font-style:normal">Kala” – the God of Death, by the name font-style:normal">Cheruththunaiyar. His heart is always full of love towards the Supreme Lord and to His servants; his hands and head tirelessly saluting the Giver of liberation; and his body and mind completely engaged in serving the Lord in perfection. The Lord who has taken abode in the Thiruvarur temple attracted the Nayanar to serve Him. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue">Like a bee, which always circles around a flower for its nectar, Cheruththunaiyar out of his pouring love enthusiastically volunteered to do the various services to the Lord and to continuously dip himself in the nectar of bliss of the Supreme. The service was his job, service was his pleasure, service was his living and idealisation of service was his aim. This Ideal devotee delighted in his sacred work. One day the Queen of the Pallava Emperor Kochchingar smelt a flower that was lying near the dais where the garlands and floral offerings are made. According to the holy procedures, any flowers that are to be offered to the Lord shouldn’t be smelt or used before by anybody. This is with the view that anything that is offered to God should be pure in nature. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">The devotee unable to bear this act of the Queen became furious. All his consciousness concentrates on the fact that “How can one smell the flower that is designated for the holy matted hair of the Supreme”. His love towards God was such he didn’t want any small impurity to occur to the offering to the Lord. He didn’t think twice but rushed with a sharp weapon and cut her nose. His act might seem extreme but was based on unceasing love and discipline towards the Merciful. What matters to the devotee whether it is the wife of the emperor or of a common man? color:blue"> bold">The fearless devotee reached the lotus feet of the Almighty in His service.
