APPUDHI ADIKAL NAYANAR font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">Appudhi Adikalar lived in a village called "Comic Sans MS";font-style:normal">Thinkalur. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> His devotion to the Lord was determination. Anger, lie, deception, infatuation and low quality thoughts do not reside with him. He came in the tradition of chanting the sweet Vedas. He was not only devoted to the Supreme but also to His truthful devotees. By hearing about Thirunavukkarachar (Appar) and his love towards to the God, though he has never seen Appar before he tied himself mentally to the feet of Thirunavukarasu – the king of words. His love for Thirunavukkarachar was so much that he became slave of his name. He named the kids, the cows, the cooking vessels, everything in his house as Thirunavukkarachu. He had never seen his form but always remembered his name and his service to the Lord. He founded a lots of inns, digged ponds, installed many tents where cool water and drinks were served to the passers by travelling in the severe heat, and many more for the benefit of the slaves of Lord Shiva. All these were bearing the name of Thirunavukkarachar, and nowhere his own name could be seen. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">While he continued his service, one day the great Thirunavukkarachar, on his way to Thiruppalanam, came in the way to Thinkalur. Due to the scorching Sun he went to water shelter. He was surprised by seeing his name being written all over the place. That most humble sage when enquired about it he was told that it’s a person by name Appudhi Adikalar runs all of them. When Appar arrived at Appudhi Adikalar's doorstep, Adikalar he rushed forward to welcome without knowing that he was the man he had been worshipping all along. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> "Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The marvellous sage, Appar asked Adikalar why he has written “some other name” in place of his name. Irked by Appar’s reference to the name of his adoration as "some other name", Adikalar shouted, what a statement you gave, it’s the name of one who won the sabotage of the silly among the jains combined with the king by the marvel of his holy service some other name for you? In the holy dressings you told this unpleasant words, Who are you, Where do you come from? 10.0pt;font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The humblest of the humble, Appar knowing his love told, "Am the silly person who without realising the greatness of Lord Shiva joined some other religions and enslaved by the mercy of the lord by giving a severe stomach pain." font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> Shocked, speechless, petrified was Appudhi Adikalar when he realised who the devotee was. Fell down and held his feet on his head with stammering words. He sang and danced in happiness, brought the entire family, friends and relatives to salute the great sage. Sprinkling the water on themselves with which they washed the feet of the king of the tongue the entire family rejoiced. He appealed to accept the feast at his house. When Appar accepted it he felt it was a boon much more than his good karma and must be the grace of Almighty only. His wife prepared plenty of pleasing food varities. The couple asked their eldest son by name Muththa Thirunavukkarachu (meaning eldest Thirunavukkarachu) to get the banana leaves to serve the food on. That boy was happy for his covetable opportunity to serve the great sage. While he was cutting the leaves a snake bit him in the hand. But he didn’t panic instead hastened up to hand over the leaves to his parents before the speed of the poison could kill him. Should the father be praised for bringing up such a nice child or is it the child for living for the principles of the father ? font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">The parents found out from the son who fell down dead after handing over the leaves that he died due to snake bite. Though they were shocked and shattered with grief they didn’t want any delay to occur in feast of the sage. After Adikalar washed his feet, before having the food Appar blessed the couple and their children with the holy ash. Then he asked where the eldest son was. Not willing to tell what happened, Adikalar said, "He won't be of use now". font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> "Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">With something striking his heart Appar persuaded him to tell what happened. When Adikalar narrated the incident, Appar was appalled by his action and prayed to the God in his magnetic words with the thevaram “ font-weight:bold;font-style:normal">Onru Kolam Avar Chindhai Uyarvarai” font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">to bring the child back to life. For the man of sincere service Almighty will do anything. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> While the town exclaimed at the kid's resurrection, Adikalar was little worried that he disturbed the feast of Appar little bit! But, Appar didn’t disappoint him. The sage asked him and the children to have food along with him. Devotees yearn for having food along with other devotees. That feast was more than satisfying for that family and so was it for the great sage!!!! 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Sai Ram 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Shivathmika Attachment: (image/jpeg) image001.jpg [not stored]
