Guest guest
SWAMI'S INFLUENCE ON YOUTH (1) Anil Kripalani, 18 yrs of age, a college student who had done the Summer course on Indian Culture and Spirituality in 1979, answering the questions asked by V Balu (a devotee of Swami): Q Have you ever been close to Baba? No! Not physically, but somehow I have always felt his presence in spirit. So I hesitate to do anything wrong since he is watching me all the time! Q Has any transformation occurred within you? Swami has changed me in many ways. I used to be very mischievous, disobeying my parents and often behaving in childish manner. But today I am different. I am more responsible towards my home duties and my parents. More than me, my parents have been able to see the influence of Baba on me I have also changed my food habits and given up eating meat. I have begun to respect animal life. Nowadays I try to control my anger and I do social work during my spare time. Also, I do not waste money any longer. Q Has anyone made fun of you for trying to follow Baba? Many people have told me that I have taken to the spiritual path at too early an age! I do not agree but I tend not to discuss with others about Baba or what I do spiritually since this is my personal business. I should avoid discussions which will not serve any useful purpose. The problem with today's students is the generation gap between them and their parents. However, with Baba students do not feel any generation gap. They understand the value of things Baba stresses, like good company (sat sang) and spirituality. Baba's teachings are really practical. I have worked with some blind students by reading out to them history books and explaining various happenings of the past. I have also helped them move from place to place. This many not be a big act of service, but even this, I would not have done at this age and stage of my life, but for Baba. Baba is a super super power, who appeals to the youth to the extent of transforming us. We feel his influence even when he is not physically near us. But offcourse we like to see him whenever possible. STUDENTS ARE MY PROPERTY --- BABA source: the glory of puttaparthi, V.Balu.
