The temple, which would be constructed by an Indo-Mauritius Cultural Association, would serve to strengthen ties between India and Mauritius. "We have decided to take a leap in terms of spreading peace, brotherhood and harmony across the world," said a statement from the association. Of the 1.2 million population of the Indian Ocean island nation, 68 percent are of Indian origin.
