Guest guest
Om SAI Ram. Koti Koti Pranams at the lotus feet of Shri Sadguru Sainath Maharaj. Just 3 or 4 days before Janmashtami ( August 27, 2005) I used to get visions of Shirdi Baba with a bluish face that of Shri Krishna. I was longing to have Baba's darshan by some means and was wondering how could it happen in a city in USA. He is sarvantharyami, knows and sees everything. It was Saturday, 27th August 2005 Janmashtami day. My wife and myself took our 4 year old son for a class and from there we went to the mall in our city Laurel. As usual we were shopping and my son wanted to eat some French fries. We went to the food court at the upper level and my wife got some French fries. Then our son and myself sat in the dining area and my wife went to another store in the mall while we were eating. My mind started pondering over janmashtami and was longing to see Shri Shirdi Baba on that day and I was really imagining whether he can visit that mall at that time. That thinking was futile according to my human knowledge. I turned around and was talking to my son, about his school which starts Monday 29th. All of a sudden, a man with grayish hair stood in front of our dining table. I couldn't imagine where he came from. He had two plastic bags and a packet of Marlbaro cigarette pack in his shirt pocket. He bend down to me and blessed my son by keeping his palm on his head and said, `I am poor, can you spare me a dollar'. I was dumbfounded. Of all the place in USA a man begging for money inside a mall. My thoughts immediately went to the desire I had to see Baba's darshan. Was it him? Yes it was. It was not coincidence. I took my wallet out and there was no cash. I felt really bad. The old man said he can wait to get the money from me. I told him I need to use an ATM to withdraw cash and give it to him. But I can't leave my son there. So I called my wife on her cell, and told her about the situation. She was in a shop near the food court. Meanwhile, I asked the man where he is from. He said `Pakistan'. Wow! She came and I showed the man to her. Before I can say, she removed her purse and gave him 2 dollars. He asked me if I was American, I said no `Indian'. Then he smiled and took his bags and walked down the stairs and he was gone. We were still pondering. I have never seen or heard about an Indian or Pakistani beggar that too in a mall asking for money in USA. Saranam Saranam Guruve Saranam. It was none other than Sadguru Shirdi Sai Baba. We pray Shri Shirdi Baba for all of us to keep the peace in the world. Om Sai Ram, Murali Krishnamurthy Laurel, Maryland USA
