GLOBAL SAI NAMA JAPA YAGNA – Baba’s Answer to My doubt.

Beloved Sairam,

The distressed Droupati’s cry of "Govinda, Pundarikaaksha, raksha maam

sharanaagatam" enters the heart of the Lord located thousands of miles away,

and its intensity multiplies by the moment, like an unsatisfied debt contracted

at usurious rates of interest. This makes the Lord restless to rush to her aid,

boring into His heart. This is the effect the utterance of a SINGLE NAMA with

devotion can cause, and attests to the Lord’s sense of indebtedness to

His votaries who utter His Nama, even by accident.

We all know the story of Ajamila, who was snatched away by the Lord’s

acolytes from those of Yamadharmaraja, all for having uttered the name

"Narayana" at the time of shedding his mortal coils. The point to note here is

that Ajaamila was calling to his own son Narayana and not to the Paramatma,

while speaking the name. Still, the Lord utilized the UNINTENTIONALLY acquired

merit as a means to save Ajamila from the fires of hell. The greatness of

Divine Nama is a never-ending treasure of facts.

Until last year I didn’t have any idea about Sai Nama Japa and its immense

potentials. I asked Pujya K. Ramaswamiji, Past President, All India Sai Samaj,

Chennai some advice on my participation in Sai Prachar activities, he forwarded

my mail to Sri. D. Sankaraiah Garu during April 2002. After this first contact,

Sri D. Sankaraiah Garu forwarded an e-mail on his desire to have Sai Nama Japa

at Salem, Tamilnadu, birthplace of HH Pujyasri B.V. Narasimha Swamiji. This

mail was a turning point in my spiritual activities and created special

interest on Sai Nama Japa within me. I thought why Sri Sankaraiah Garu had

taken so much pain to travel hundreds of kilometers from Hyderabad to Salem to

conduct Sai Nama Japa. Then I made some efforts to search various scriptures

giving importance of Nama Japa. Later on I realized Baba said everything in a

nutshell about the importance on Sai Nama Japa in Sri Sai Satcharitra chapters

3, 13, and 27. We need not search any explanations or descriptions on any

topics from various scriptures, everything is available in Sri Sai Satcharitra.

Each and every sentence of Sri Sai Satcharitra is impregnated with enormous

meanings and morals. In Mahabharata, one chapter alone devoted to stress

importance of Nama Japa, but in Sri Sai Satcharitra, there are three chapters

stressing importance of Sai Nama Japa.

In order to bring all Sai devotees in Sai Nama Japa Sadana, Global Sai Nama Japa

Yagna was initiated with divine grace and guidance of Baba’s children Sri.

Saibanisa, Sri. D. Sankaraiah and others. It is proposed to continue this Yagna

till Baba’s Maha Samadhi Day (October 05, 2003) with a minimum number of

mantra recitation to be one billion (100 Crores).

When Sri D. Sankaraiah Garu was in Coimbatore on 14-2-2003, I shared my concern

on achieving 100 crores Sai Nama Japa, as the total accumulated Nama Japa done

was less than a million at that time and there is a long way to go to achieve

one billion mark.

As Baba is Controller of this universe and He knows what should be done and when

to be done. We are mere His instruments and our duty is not to monitor His

activities, we must surrender to His Lotus Feet and do whatever He ordered to

do. Today (06-03-2003) is Thursday, being Baba’s day, I took some

leaflets on Global Sai Nama Japa Yagnam and went Sri Naga Sai Mandir, somehow

Baba didn’t permit me to distribute the leaflets to visitors. Hence I

returned with heavy mind and worried much on this turn of events. My mind was

fully occupied with ‘ is this one billion’ mark is impractical or

unrealistic task? I prayed Baba to clarify my doubt.

After lunch, I went to District Central Library to return books, which I have

borrowed. I gazed periodical section and found February 2003 issue of "The

Vision" published by Anandashram, Kanhangad, Kerala. I surprised to see

Baba’s miracle and His way of giving answers to our doubts and questions.

When I opened that book randomly, I got the answer for my question. Divine Nama

Japa Mantra Yagna is not an isolated subject, it is being practiced by many

many satsang groups, ashrams, mutts, mandirs more importantly millions of

individual devotees throughout the world. For example, this Anandashram is

proposed to do 15,500 crores (155 Billions) Nama Japa Yagna, reciting "Om Sri

Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram" for the World Peace. The members of Anandashram are

doing 15 to 17 crores Nama Japa Mantras every month and as on December 2002

they achieved 5815 crores.

By this way Baba clarified my doubt and it is easy to reach our target if we

follow their quantum of 15 crores Nama Japa per month up to Baba’s

Mahasamadhi Day.

On our part, we must work sincerely to take this Divine message to all Sai

devotees. Every one must think on various ways and means to implement this

spiritual project more efficiently. Besides our Nama Japa Sadaka, we must make

others to recite Sai Nama Japa. There are so many ways to attract participants

such as placing an advertisement in local dailies, distributing leaflets on

greatness of Sai Nama Japa, placing Flyers in shopping malls, Displaying

notices in all Mandir Notice Boards, asking our children to take this message

to their friends in school, devoting few minutes to talk about the greatness of

Sai Nama Japa with our friends, neighbours, sending greeting cards carrying Sai

Nama Japa on special occasions, displaying Sai Nama Japa Mantra sticker in our

cars, keeping display boards at some prominent corners of our street, etc. etc.

Let us act now and achieve our spiritual object. With Baba, nothing is impossible !!!
