Guest guest
SAI NAMA JAPA – HOLY ONE IS BETTER THAN HAZY CRAZY CROWD Beloved Sairam, Sai Nama Sri. D. Sankaraiah Garu once revealed at Sai Nama Japa prayer meeting at Coimbatore, "Your expectation for a large number of participants to this Sai Nama Japa Prayers shows your good intention, but practically the outcome will be less than expected numbers." While thinking deep in this subject, one can understand that the principle of Nama Japa chanting is to glorify the Lord and not to attract crowd. In my opinion, a single sincere soul is enough for Sai Nama Japa Prayers. This Japa Sadhana is ordained by Baba and we should not think about audience. We must chant if there were no men to hear us. If Baba hears our Nama Japa, then He will ask some sincere devotees to gather in such place. "Purification of mind is absolutely necessary, without it all our spiritual endeavours are nothing, but useless show and pomp." (SSS Ch.XVI & XVII) If we have one pure devotee in our Sai Nama Japa gathering, his vibration can purify hundreds and thousands of men. The transcendental potency of the Sai Nama Maha-mantra is herein explained. First, the holy name is vibrated by the Lord. When someone hears from Him directly, he is purified. When another person hears from that person, he also is purified. In this way the purification process is advanced among pure devotees. Sri Sai Baba is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and no one can claim His potency. Nonetheless, if one is a pure devotee, hundreds and thousands of men can be purified by his vibration. This potency is within every living being, provided he chants the Sai Nama Japa Maha-mantra offencelessly and without material motives. Our prayers that we make through Mantra Sadhana or Japa are converted into an impersonal force, which is the power of God, and the miracle is worked by God Himself. We cease to be the ultimate agent of the action. Our agency is only incidental. What really works is something higher than ourselves. So the credit must go to God, finally, even when Japa takes effect. God Himself seems to be doing Sadhana for ourselves. Who can do things in this world other than God. The atmosphere will slowly change. Prayers are powers, please remember this. And these powers which are generated by prayer are endowed with greater strength than even bombs. The utterance of a Mantra is the release of an energy, not only inside our own personalities, but also in the outer atmosphere of which we form contents. Japa Sadhana not only brings a transformation in our own inward personality, but also sympathetically produces an equal effect in the society of which we are a part. We can also invoke in our mind, in our consciousness, the form of God, the Supreme Being Himself, by the recitation of the Sai Nama Japa which is the sacred expression of that ultimate form of Reality or Existence, God the Almighty. What are you thinking of? Go on, strike! (Sri Sai Satcharitra, Ch.XXIII) Om Sai Sri Sai Jaya Jaya Sai.
