TROUBLING THE TROUBLES

Beloved Sairam,

Despite close association with Baba, once Sri Nana Saheb Chandorkar was upset

with troubles in his life and said to Baba, "Enough of this Samsara, Samsara is

nissara (i.e., worthless) I cannot discover even a bit of happiness in this

Samsara." For that Baba said to Nana Saheb, "As long as the body remains,

Samsara remains. None escapes it. How can you?" Even though it seems impossible

to tide over the situation, let us make earnest attempts to face such troubles

with the help of Baba.

Samsara or troubles are of many kinds. A man’s job is in danger. A persistent

cough makes us suspect T.B., our son’s or daughter’s behaviour gives us

sleepless nights. After facing many such problems for days, we will not think

of consecration (consecration is eliminating ourselves and installing the

Divine in every act of ours) till we are reminded by somebody. We will be only

thinking of our problems and not of consecration or even Baba. Even after being

reminded, we will not be in a mood to consecrate. We feel like selling others

not to disturb us or force us to consecrate. Even if we control our disturbed

feelings and do consecrate, we can see ourselves forgetting it in 3 minutes.

The trouble will harass us in many different ways.

What do we do in such a condition? We have to relate to our mind as a second

party and argue with it. We have to confront our mind with opposition such as,

"How many times has Baba saved you from big complication? Why are you stubborn

this time? If you do not call Baba to help you, who else is going to help you?

If you lose sleep over your son’s bad conduct, is he going to change? Can you

control your son’s going out? If you say nobody can correct him, does it mean

that even Sai cannot do it? Like so many others, if you also think about your

problem only, will not it make it grow worse? If consecration is difficult,

does it mean you cannot do it? Can you also commit the same mistake that

everybody else is committing? Steady yourself and call Baba. That is the only

way

MS" size="3">. Do not be stubborn. Do not worry. Remember Sai Baba.

If a trouble starts harassing us, man will lose peace of mind and forget Baba.

Even if we remember Baba, we will not have the strength to pray to Him. In such

a condition the first thing we have to do is to direct our mind towards Baba,

renew our faith and do the consecration with belief that Baba can solve it.

This is the most different part. If we do this, then our problem is more or

less over.

In the next stage the problem will not permit us to think of consecration. If we

ignore the problem and consecrate all our feelings and thoughts and actions,

then the problem will begin to yield. If there is an obstacle still then past

consecration can completely dissolve it.

If a man with a problem can remember Sai and consecrate it, one can say that

there is nothing he cannot do. This is a great capacity. If one has it then one

can receive great many things from Baba.

If a trouble develops, then we will forget Sai. If a man still remembers Sai,

then he is a great devotee. It is even more difficult to remember Baba when an

opportunity has come. If he still remembers then, he is a devotee without an

equal.

Let us consecrate Baba in our life positively by expelling all our negative

emotions, so as to make our life’s altitude equal, to achieve the ultimate

object of a devotee without an equal.
