Guest guest
This is an anecdote I once heard retold in my own words. Mr.X was studying in his 12th standard when he fervently prayed to God to help him clear his exams and make him very happy. He couldn’t imagine anything bringing him more joy than a good result. He did pass his 12th with flying colors but it hardly made him smile as his degree seemed to take up all his attention. He managed to pull through his degree and landed himself a nice decent job with a good salary. He thought all this should pave way for his happiness. But it didn’t seem to. Maybe it was because he was single and was ready to put an end to his lonely days. After wedding a suitable girl also he couldn’t be happy .Maybe a son could make life more interesting. With God's grace he got a healthy son .But he still wasnt happy. So many things had to be done still. A school had to be chosen, the son had to be given a decent education, else he would be made fun of by his friends. He had to prove to the world that his son was better than other children. So now Mr.X is on a quest to give his child the best of education and he had to work hard for it.After retirement also he had to take up odd jobs so his son could study at a good foreign university. He convinced his son to come back after his education and look for a job in India. For sometime job hunting made him nervous and tense but soon even the son landed a plum job. The old man still wasn’t satisfied with this and thought it was time get his son married.Such an eligible bachelor he was, he would fetch a huge amount of dowry. Maybe then they could buy another new house,a nice car and have a fat bank account. All this happened just the way the old man (Mr.X) wanted but he still wouldnt smile. Nothing made him happy. He was constantly worrying about the future and always planning the whole career of his unborn grandchildren. This kept him busy for a while but he could wait no longer and began to pester his son for grandchildren. In due time, grandchildren were born to him.Even they could not make him smile. Ultimately his whole life became a quest for the happiness he always sought and never found..... Where was his happiness? Did it happen when he cleared all his exams? Did he even smile when he got a job or got married or had a son or had grandchildren playing with him?????? That happiness was of short duration and just made him more nervous and anxious for the future . However there was only one place you could see Mr.X laughing and smiling…….. It wasnt even a real smile or genuine happiness. Where was this?................... .. .. .. .. .. .. "In his portrait after his demise...." (And that too because the photographer had forced him!!!!!!!) The moral of the story is that we have everything we need in life now. We assume something or the other would make us happy but that happiness is only short lived. Here was a man who had everything and who could have made his life happy and probably someone else's as well. But he chose to be greedy and overlook all his blessings and thought material things or relations could make him happy. God has given us everything we need. Let us end our greed and useless desires. If you are desirous of something let it be for the love of GOD and let it be for His mercy on you. Life is beautiful.Dont postpone your happiness.Smile!!!!!Spread a lot of joy!!!!!!! This is what God meant for you. The present moment is the most beautiful one. Who knows Kal Ho Na Ho?????????? MAY SAI BLESS US ALL!!!!!! shirdi_sai_telugu_group
