Guest guest
TALK WITH SWAMI – 22-4-2001 The following is the details of the session on the 22nd (April 2001). The session began with the warden-requesting Swami to speak on the aspects of Sakara and Nirakara in Trayee Brindavan, Bangalore. Swami said: Birds perch on a tree and defile the place below with their droppings and as a result none can enjoy the shade below. If you merely clap your hands to scare them away they will not go away. You have to clap with your hands, shoo them with your mouth to make them fly away. Similarly, Singing the name of the lord, clapping with hands while watching the Divine form with the eyes will drive away the birds of Vices-Kama, Krodha, This is SAKARA Bhakthi. In My opinion Sakara Bhakti is superior to NIRKARA Bhakthi. The waters of rivers merge into the ocean signifying surrender because the river water flows below and the ocean water flows above at the point of merger. This is symbolic of Surrender-Sharanagathi. One should pray to god for what is lacking with you but is available with God. One should pray for Peace and Bliss because only he has it. Ananda is permanent while Santosham is temporary-Some Tosham. If you keep a drop of water on your hand it evaporates fast. However if you put it in the ocean it becomes one with it. So, think of God and merge with him. Don't desire for the world and become worldly. If you take a tumbler of water with sugar at the bottom, the water at the top will not taste sweet. If you stir it well with a spoon then it is sweet everywhere. Tumbler is heart, Water is worldly desires, Sugar is Bliss, Spoon is Buddhi, and Stirring is Sadhana. In Nasik, by the banks of River Saraswathi, in the state of UP, not the Nasik in Maharashtra, there lived a pious devotee of Krishna, Jagannath Sashtri. He realised that Radha made Krishna her own through her devotion and love. Keeping her as his ideal he used to worship Radha. One day, a bangle seller noticed a beautiful maiden on the banks of River Saraswathi, who asked him to adorn her right hand with bangles. To his surprise he kept on adding more and more bangles. Finally she was satisfied and told him to collect the money from her father Jagannath Sashtri and gave him the address. The seller went to the house and asked the person for money. Sashtri was surprised and said that he was a brahmachari and he didn't have a daughter to whom the seller replied that the maiden couldn't have lied. She said that there would be a small room in the house and in a corner there would be money for the bangles. Sashtri went and to his amazement found some money in it (Rs.10). He returned and asked the seller the cost of the bangles who replied that it was Rs. 10. Sashtri realised that the maiden was none other than Radha. He wished the seller on his good fortune and went with him to the banks to have Darshan. She was however not to be seen. The bangle seller called out to her saying that he wanted to adorn her left hand too with bangles. Then, a hand rose out of the water. Sashtri was all joy and prayed that she should also show him her face to which she replied she would show her face only to Krishna. All this is possible with the Sakara worship. Swami in his discourse referred to the lives of the Charles Penn, Walter Cowan, Karnam Subbamma all of whom he had revived from death to keep up the promise he had given them to be with them at their last moments. Swami said that he very rarely gives a promise but once he gives it he keeps it up. During the discourse Swami narrated how he had saved the life of Sri Rajendran (Kodai Care taker), who was very much present at the moment in Trayee.
