I can suggest that they were but practical, ingenious applications of the "yukta-vairagya" principle given by Srila Rupa Gosvami (BhRS, 2.255-256). Certainly Rupa Gosvami's verses were not unheard of at the time (like the Lord's own order in Cc. Adi 9.36), and the proof of Sarasvati Thakura's understanding and applications of these is that they not only worked all over India, but produced even greater results in similar preaching by his foremost disciple, Srila A.C.
