Actually, 100 of the 700 verses of the Gita address these three

modes of nature. This the only topic in chapter seventeen, a major topic

in chapter eighteen, and occurs prominently elsewhere as well. Dredging my

memory, I think Srila Prabhupada even said that chapter fourteen is

practically the most important one.

This gradual development is elaborated in the second chapter of

Srimad Bhagavatam (Divinity and Divine Service).
