Guest guest
One thing that might be useful to note is the difference between kirtana and sankirtan. As already stated "In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregationalchanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Krishna." Lord Caitanya's movement is usually called a sankirtana not a kirtan movement. The opportunity for such congregational activity may not present itself to everyone or as frequently as one would like. In any event, the idea is that one should avoid unnecessarily perform one's devotional service independantly or aloof from other devotees; not that one should artificially renounce one's family obligations to follow the path of a monk. As far a who should follow the principle of Krishna consciouness the best? One who is serious will follow. Of course those in natural leadership positions such as parents, brahmanas, gurus, administrators, and others should set a good example. In this connection, the analogy of a sanyassi being like a white sheet is good. Any black spot on the white sheet is obvious and appears magnified; similarly, any discrepancy in the character of sanyassi stands out to all and adversly affects the message. ys, Santi
