Guest guest
In Delhi in 1977 I asked a Western devotee who was living in the ashram why he didn't attend temple programs. He replied that his daughter had just died and that Srila Prabhupada had told him not to enter the temple room for a certain number of days (I don't remember how many). Almost certainly there are different traditions concerning this. Quite possibly most if not all smartas stop all puja etc. during ashaucha. In Vaisnavism and especially Gaudiya Vaisnavism bhaava is ultimately more important than vidhi (please don't take that statement out of context) and so certain gurus may advise their disciples to forego certain vidhis that could be considered bhakti-pratikula. It seems that Srila Prabhupada instructed puja etc. to continue during eclipses (although this forbidden in smarta-vicara) and that this instruction came from his guru, Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. Guest guest
haribol...... i want to say something only about this: In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions (bhaagavata puraaNa 11.5.32). sankirtana does not means only book distributing and chanting in public..... regular sankirtana starts from one round (kirtana) each day (regular) even with non following any regulative principle, so if you distribute some privileges on this basis (= performing sankirtana) the subject of wich service devotees are doing (book distribution, pujari, working (in a licit way) for the family) or in wich ashrama they are (brahmachari, ghriasta, vanaprasta, sannyasi) is not at all important........ or if there are rules, the "all time " preachers are the first ones that have to respect them, because a devote speaks basically with the example not only with words harekrishna yasodanandanadasa italy .. .. .. .. ... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. So, one could argue based on the above evidences that those who actively participate in the sankiirtana yagna are not affected by death uncleanliness. However, we have to be true to the spirit of the scripture. I don't think this refers to the devotee who casually does book distribution and harinaama once a week. I suspect this refers to someone who is actively doing sankiirtana on a regular basis, like the travelling bus parties of the seventies or the devotees who preach in Europe. Any thoughts on this? yours, - K _______________ Comunica in un ’altra dimensione con MSN Extra Storage! http://www.msn.it/msnservizi/es/?xAPID=534&DI=1044&SU=http://hotmail.it/&HL=HMTA\ GTX_Comunica
Guest guest
haribol if this subject is about archana , i have no objections, but what about what i try to call "home/regular/normal/private prasadam offering?" examples: i go to my parents house, i need to go for my job and for mantaining necessary relationships..... near me my mother is eating meat...... i have some beans or pasta, salad or whatever can be eaten without breaking the basic principles asked to me in the initiation ceremony....... easy to say that it is a highly contaminated situation and the word "archana" is in another planet now ...... but have i to (silently) offer or have I to eat bhoga..... or fast? my wife remains alone at home in her menstrual period, is it possible for her to offer prasadam to the spiritual master photo? when her father died we had not doubts about inviting relatives at home and giving them a prasadam dinner if you are speaking only of archana...... no problem i am not so expert and i only listen haribolo..... and many thanks!!! yasodanandanadasa italy _______________ MSN Search: la risposta alle tue ricerche online http://search.msn.it/
