Yes, this question of basic ontology is often perplexing. As far as I've studied, whichever way acharyas of various Vaisnava paramparas explain it, they all introduce the concept of achintya. Something somewhere is inconceivable. From the logical outlook of we conditioned souls sitting on this side of the Vaitarani, either the Lord is partial, which is inconceivable, or we ourselves are so inconceivably stupid as to have rejected the Lord.
