In NOD Srila Prabhupada, quoting Srila Rupa Goswami, after listing the wonderful effects of such activities, states that they may not have such an effect in every case but that examples are cited to show the potential of such activities. (Could anyone supply the actual quote?) When such extraordinary effects are perceived it may be understood as the special causeless mercy of the Lord, who is not, contrary to karma-mimamsa belief, bound to reward only under specific circumstances.
