reconcile these two viewpoints?

Because even devotees who have attained Bhagvaan are said to be

situated in Brahman, as Bhagavaan is inclusive of the concept of

impersonal Brahman. All the liberated souls are situated in Brahman,

although some can see only Brahman while others can see the Supreme

Personality of Godhead. So in that sense, Brahman is the platform of

ultimate happiness, assuming that one is rendering service to the

Lord on that platform.

You don't have to call me sir. I'm not much older than you are. :-)

As far as I know, being "situated in Brahman" means exactly that,

nothing more, nothing less. The question is whether or not the mukta

is situated in admiration of the Lord's impersonal aspect, i.e.

merely in the admiration of His greatness, His transcendence, etc, or

if one is rendering devotional service to the Lord, meaning that one

is in Vaikuntha.

In both cases, the muktas are situated in Brahman, as per my

understanding. The difference is whether or not the mood of unalloyed

bhakti is present. The bliss of being absorbed in impersonal Brahman,

or brahmaananda, is not sufficient to keep one from falling down

again into the material manifestation.

yours,
