How can anything spiritual be dissolved. In the purport, Prabhupada does not seem to address this point, but rather, he explains how the matter gets active due to spirit. Can someone throw light on the purport of this verse? > > "Of all that is material and all that is spiritual in this world, know for certain that I am both its origin and dissolution. Now the key to the answer to your question is "jagatah--of the world" in the verse above. Actually both material energy and spiritual energy of Sri Krishna are eternal. Material world dissolves into Maha Vishnu at the end of Brahmas life. Upanisads describe the process in which material energy is re-absorbed into Maha Vishnu[Narayana]. When the material world is dissolved the spiritual engergy manifested in form of baddha jivatmas in this world [recall use of word jagatah] are also re absorbed into mahavishnu. Here dissolution doesn't means destruction but rather it means destruction of manifestations of these two energies. Neither material energy nor spiritual energy is destroyed because they both are eternal. Rather they are both made "unmanifest" by Maha Vishnu who absorbs them back into himself. Only the spirits manifested in this world[recall word jagatah used in teh verse] suffer this fate and not mukta jivatma in Vaikuntha. Your Servant Always Sumeet.
