But nowadays someone can think himself and be > seen by others as an expert devotee but inventing ways of preaching which > may not be proper? Principles of Krsna consciousness cannot be changed. On the other hand, techniques--specific actions based on principles--are adjustable according to time and place. However devotees should be cautious when making changes, even those that at first seem to render positive effects, for it is much easier to introduce deviations than to subsequently uproot them. An expert devotee fully understands the principles of Krishna consciousness and how to apply them in all circumstances. His innovations are only for the sake of introducing Krishna consciousness principles in unusual circumstances, such as in non-Vedic culture. The innovations of conditioned souls, however, are influenced by rajo-guna, by the urge to do something different, to feel oneself the doer, and to distinguish oneself as a creative achiever. Such is often apparent in the attempted innovations of inexpert devotees, i.e. those who have not fully imbibed the principles of Krishna consciousness. Better they come to sattva-guna, by steadily adhering to the path chalked out by the previous acaryas. ----------------------- To from this mailing list, send an email to: BVKS.Sanga-Owner
