Vyasa in his sutra is commenting on upanisad vyakyas. A massive nineteenth century work in Bengali called "Srimad Bhagavata o Vedanta sutra" by one Rampada Chattopadhyay was prepared comparing the two. It runs into some 2,200 pages. He took inspiration from Lord Caitanya's statement for this work. Judging from a short English introduction to the subject, the author venerates Ramakrishna and certain NeoVedanta ideas. However, he is very attached to the Srimad Bhagavatam and his work is definitely most worthy of attention by anoyone interested in Lord Caitanya's statement. Unfortunately its in Bengali.
