Guest guest
I understand that every member of the Guru Parampara should write at least one book. I also understand that Sri Gaura Kishora das babaji was illiterate. Which of these facts have I got wrong? Omer

Shrii Chaitanya Mahaaprabhu never wrote any books. Furthermore, I'm not sure where it comes from, this principle that every member of the paramparaa must write at least one book. Regarding the second, I think it's perhaps more accurate to say that Babaji Maharaja was practically illiterate, or relatively illiterate. I don't think he was unable to read or write, but he couldn't read or write Sanskrit. I remember hearing he had a favorite book (Narottama's? Prarthana?) that he usually had with him. Is this correct? Babhru das
Guest guest
Gaura-kisora dasa Babaji Maharaja was not illiterate, but also not very literate. He was a grains merchant in his previous life and didn't have much formal education. He kept with him Narottama dasa Thakura's books Prarthana and Prema-bhakti-candrika. Still he understood all the purports of the scriptures.
