Guest guest
It is generally accepted that Srila Babaji Maharaja could not even sign his own name. Yet he would verbally comment during readings of Srimad-Bhagavatam, kept books with him, and sent (possibly dictated) letters to apparent disciples; so he was not wholly unscholarly. How does this square with the common idea that Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati was his only disciple? Babhru das

Haribol, may I ask what evidence you have that proves Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati was the only disciple? I didn't claim to have any such proof. There is a common understanding among the followers of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura that he was the only disciple initiated by Babaji Maharaj. That's why I refer to "the common idea" rather than "the fact." However, others may have more conclusive evidence. If so, I hope they'll take your question as an opportunity to share it.
