GIRI GOVARDHANA PUJA- ANNAKUTA.

Dear Devotees,

Today is Rama Ekadashi, so I thought it will be

wonderful to write a few words about the majestic mountain GOVARDHANA,

which is very pivotal in complete worship of the personality of GODHEAD

in the month of DAMODARA. First let me remind every one that this up

coming Saturday 25 October, 2003 is GOVARDHANA PUJA & GO PUJA .

 

In the Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu 2.1.62. it is

written that: " May the left hand of KRSNA , whose eyes are like the

petals of a lotus flower, always protect you. With his left hand he

raised the GOVARDHANA HILL as if it were a toy." In the Padma purana it

is mentioned that when the Lord descends to perform his pastimes, HE does

so accompanied by HIS associates and intimate paraphernalias. Thus the

entire land of BRAJA MANDALA, of which the GOVORDHANA HILL is a pivitol

point descends with HIM. The pious worship Sri GOVARDANA as non

different from KRSNA HIMSELF. Lord Chaitanya has recomended that since

KRSNA is worshipable, so is his land VRINDHAVANA and GOVARDHANA HILL.

Lord Sri GOURACHANDRA refused to set his foot on the GOVORDHANA HILL

recognizing it as the body of KRSNA. In "KRSNA BOOK" Srila Prabhupada

has written that it is KRSNA who declared that " One who neglects the

worship of GOVORDHANA HILL, will not be happy. There are many snakes on

the GOVORDHANA HILL, and the persons neglecting the prescribed duty of

GOVORDANA PUJA will be bitten by this snakes and killed. Then KRSNA

concluded by saying, that in order to assure the good fortunes of the

cows and themselves all people of VRINDHAVANA near GOVARDHANA HILL must

worship the HILL as prescribed by HIM."( Please note that KRSNA has

mentioned, this is specifically applicable to all persons who live in

VRINDHAVANA near the GOVORDHANA HILL.)

 

Thus worship of GOVORDHANA HILL which is known

as ANNAKUTA has been made famous by KRSNA himself as non different from

worship of HIM. The day of the PUJA will mark the mid point of the month

of DAMODARA, so please stay focused and steady! Thanks! Ys Ashokamrita.
