Guest guest
The BBT calendar lists the beginning of Kartik before Diwali. But I have heard from other sources that Kartik actually begins with Diwali. This seems reasonable since Diwali is the beginning of a new year, so wouldn't Kartik logically begin after Diwali? Is anyone else familiar with the tradition of considering Kartik as coming after Diwali? Does anyone know why this discrepancy exists? Guest guest
Krishna, To the best of my knowledge the month of Kartik begins with Purnima or Samkranti, when the sun enter the constellation Tula or Libra in its southern course. That would make the BBT calender more accurate. I hope this is helpful, YS Ashokamrita.
